Businessman David Perdue stunned Georgias Republican political establishment Tuesday by capturing the partys U.S. Senate nomination in his first run for office.
The former CEO of Reebok and Dollar General toppled 11-term Rep. Jack Kingston by a narrow margin, setting up a battle of political newcomers with famous kin in the fall. Perdues cousin, Sonny, was a two-term governor and Nunns father, Sam, was a four-term U.S. Senator....

Another victory for the big gubmint RINO establishment.
Oooo!!! Another moderate GOP Establishment hack wins another primary race! Oooo!!! And I should be excited about the (diminishing) prospect of the Republican party winning back the Senate because...?!?!
Since the f’n despicable GOP Establishment continues to become increasingly indistinguishable from the Democrat party, I’ve pretty much reached the point where I don’t give a DAMN whether the GOP wins back the Senate or not. It’s not like anything will change if they do.
Same old story:looks like write-in is the only acceptable choice for me.
But... But... Karl Rove and Ann Coulter say we need to put our differences aside and rally behind the hand-picked party establishment candidates! Then we can FINALLY give Obama that WHALE OF A FIGHT Boehner and McConnell have long been promising!! </sarc>
Not even close. Kingston was backed by the DC elite and the US chamber of corny capitalism. Perdue is not a career politician unlike Kingston with 22 years in DC.
I assume you don’t follow Georgia politics
The only moderate was the 22 year career politician who lost

So then can we expect David Purdue to lock arms with Ted Cruz and Mike Lee should he win the vacant Georgia Senate seat in November???
Yup
well the Chamber spent 2.3 million in the runoff trying to defeat him, and he has already promised not to support McConnell for senate leader if the repubs take the senate... He also defeated a 22-year incumbent. count your blessings where you may.
Seriously?! Look, I may have born at night but not LAST NIGHT!
Hmmm. It seems each accused the other of supporting amnesty. Conservatives can’t win every election, but nearly every Republican primary winner *claimed* to be conservative in order to win.
Kingston was definitely an amnesty guy.
Got rid of a devil we knew.
(I don’t put much credence in a 95% CU. Too many garbage votes. I firmly believe that if you don’t win, it don’t count. And if it only moves left slower, it don’t count either. That leaves them all 0/0.)
We will both seein time
Are you a Georgia resident or just one of the so called know it alls?
You mistake me for someone who was burning with enthusiasm for either. Career politician Kingston was marginally better than rich liberal businessman Perdue, but both were the worst of those running, with Perdue at the bottom.
Thanks for your interest in my interest in GA politics. I’ve been following their politics for 3 decades, as I have almost every other state.
I have this lovely bridge spanning the East River in New York City. I can let you have the ownership papers at a special price. If not, I also have a lovely span for sale near Savannah that might be more your speed.
Many liberal Democrats running in the South until a decade ago did the same thing. Perdue just used their playbook.
But you do not vote here and obviously do not know Perdue.
