Republicans In Total Panic as Christie Falls 8 Points Behind Hillary Clinton (Are you worried?)
PoliticusUSA ^ | January 21, 2014 | Jason Easley

The Republican Party put all of their 2016 eggs in the Christie basket. Now the basket has George Washington Bridge size hole, Hillary Clinton has opened up an 8 point lead and Republicans are panicking.

The first whiff of GOP panic came from a recent New York Times story,

Of all the new realities that Mr. Christie must confront, perhaps the most humbling is a sense of losing the momentum that surrounded him just a few months ago. Last year, the governor’s staff had begun building up his foreign policy bona fides, quietly reaching out to Brian H. Hook, a Republican foreign policy expert who worked at the United Nations for President George W. Bush, and started planning his international trip.

Asked whether the trip is still on, Mr. Christie’s adviser William J. Palatucci responded: “It’s all to be determined.”

Inside the Republican Party, the once constant talk of Mr. Christie’s path to the White House has quieted. “I think anything about a 2016 deal, at this point, is on the back burner,” said Ray Washburne, the finance chairman of the Republican National Committee.

The panic grew after Christie’s disastrous fundraising trip to Florida, where instead of moving on from the scandals, he was so besieged that he had to hide out and avoid the media and the public.

The results of the latest Quinnipiac poll should turn the panic into a full blown inferno as Hillary Clinton has opened up an eight point lead on Christie. The December Quinnipiac poll was one the few that was friendly to the Republican cause, so the GOP has been beating this poll into the ground. But the January poll revealed that Christie is being immensely damaged by the scandals.

Christie went from being in a statistical tie with Clinton last month to trailing the former Sec. of State 46%-38% today. The scandals are destroying Christie with Independents. He has gone from leading Clinton 47%-32% to trailing 41%-40%. The percentage of respondents who think that he would make a good president has plunged from 49% in December to 35% today.

Republicans know that they don’t have another candidate that come close to Clinton in any way. The same Quinnipiac poll shows Clinton leading Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Jeb Bush all by double digits. The Republican establishment is behind Christie. The big Republican money is behind Christie. The RNC changed the party’s nominating process to benefit Christie, and now the New Jersey governor is being undone by scandals that highlight his temperament issues.

Christie’s image and reputation are being severely damaged by these scandals. His brand as a blue collar, tough talking governor who gets things done has been replaced by the image of a petty vindictive bully. Once a candidate has been negatively defined for the electorate, it is nearly impossible to change that image. It is this reality that Republicans have yet to face.

Chris Christie is damaged goods just like Mitt Romney was damaged goods. The Republican establishment may go through with their plan to nominate Christie. If they do, they will find out that it doesn’t matter how the investigations turn out. The damage has already been done, and Republicans may end up stuck with another fatally flawed candidate who has virtually no chance of winning.

The idea of Christie beating Clinton has always seemed like a dubious Republican pipe dream, but never did the GOP think that they would be spending 2014 watching their only viable candidate go up in smoke.

I never thought of him as the front runner. Hence, no panic here.

Translation: ESTABLISHMENT Republicans in panic, as THEIR candidate that they are trying to shove down every one’s throat, is proving to be a disaster BEFORE the election and the voters aren’t falling for their BS any more.

RINOS always and with no exception win the presidency with ease. Just ask President Dole, President McCain and President Romney if my alcohol addled brain has history right. Perhaps I should quit drinking. :)

How is President Christi doing in Washington today?

Conservatives have no reason to raise a finger defending Christie

We need to think outside the box and come up with a wild card candidate and then drop them in at the last moment to reduce the left’s time to destroy them.
For example... Thomas Sowell, Clint Eastwood, or Ted Nugent.

“Republicans In Total Panic as Christie Falls 8 Points Behind Hillary Clinton (Are you worried?)”

The only thing that worries me is that the MSM/ALL LIBERALS can make this such a big issue after Crisco had a press conferences and said that he takes full RESPONSIBILITY on his watch, FIRED people and basically put it out there for the public to dissect!

Even though he just might be in BIG trouble.

Now for over five years you have 0bama committing so many impeachable moments and he just flips EVERYONE the bird and life moves on.

Just seams to me that it really does not matter who gets the nod for our side.

We have a long row to hoe!

You could make a production of "Atlas Shrugged" and cast Mitch McConnel as Wesley Mouch, John Beohner as Mr. Thompson, Michael Moore as Balf Uebank, Joe Biden as Jim Taggert, Rahm Emmanuel as Cuffy Meigs, Nancy Pelosi as Betty Pope, John Podesta as Clem Weatherby, Susan Saranden and Tim Robbins as Gerald and Ivy Starnes, Johnathon Alter as Bertram Scudder, Richard Dreyfus as Dr. Simon Pritchett, Bill Clinton as Dr. Ferris...

Once you get started, it's kinda fun. Add to the list...

Well, those points lost against the Benghazstress have to go *somewhere*, so whomever that was supporting Krispy now have to support someone else. The ‘double-digit’ leads against Cruz, Paul probably mean 55-45.

When zerocare starts to painfully shatter family budgets through October, Cruz will have the repeal and NOT replace plan circulated via grassroots throughout the base.

I'm not hanging my hat on any candidate as though politicians were the answer. The answer is the American People. This is a government of, by, and for the American People, not the politicians. Politicians are not the answer, they are the problem. The issue is not who manages to get into office. The issue is the American People once again taking the reigns and forcing politicians to be honest or they're GONE.

You will not always get good, honest people in government and a lot of times they turn dishonest after assuming office. THROW THE BUMS OUT if they are dishonest, grow government, and raise taxes - that's the only language politicians understand.

Are you paying attention? It isn’t just the left. It is the left AND the GOP establishment that we are up against.

As I posted earlier, the GOP establishment has made it clear that they do not want social conservatives in their tent. Fine. Year after year we see and hear this yet we keep voting for them.

It isn’t doing us any good. The MSM, the left and the gop establishment make sure that tea party types get nowhere on a presidential ticket.

The gop has run losers and I see more of the same on the horizon. Conservatives don’t have a chance either way.

The country is going downhill faster than Christie can eat a kryspy.

I say let the dems have another shot and watch the further decline. They won’t have anyone to blame but themselves and maybe then the public will wise up, when they start choking on the democratic shit sandwich that has been served up for 12 years.

To continue to vote for the lesser of the evils just keeps making the evils in both sides, think that we want them, when we don’t.

We are not sending any message at all if we keep voting for candidates that we really don’t want.

Right. Since the professional politicians are doing such a bang up job, right? By all means let’s keep banging our heads against THAT wall.

I think if we want to send a message we need to NOT vote for the RINO this time.

We can’t sit it out and not vote. No one sees that message. They would just think people were not interested in voting.

To show a sudden large jump in a third party... that is the kind of message that gets seen.

But we need to pick a third party to give our votes to. If we scatter our votes around 3 or 4 third parties we dilute the message.

I am not voting for the RINO the next time around.
