We knew this was coming, no? A month ago, Politico reported that Senate Republicans were planning to intervene more aggressively in GOP primaries in hopes of clearing the field for their preferred candidates. A few days later, Steve LaTourette announced that the Republican Main Street Partnership was dropping Republican from its name and would intervene on behalf of centrist candidates from both parties in congressional elections. Now here comes Roves group, American Crossroads, pledging untold millions towards electing the most allegedly electable candidate in Republican primaries. No more Akins and maybe no more Marco Rubios, Rand Pauls, and Ted Cruzes too?
The group, the Conservative Victory Project, is intended to counter other organizations that have helped defeat establishment Republican candidates over the last two election cycles. It is the most robust attempt yet by Republicans to impose a new sense of discipline on the party, particularly in primary races.
There is a broad concern about having blown a significant number of races because the wrong candidates were selected, said Steven J. Law, the president of American Crossroads, the super PAC creating the new project. We dont view ourselves as being in the incumbent protection business, but we want to pick the most conservative candidate who can win.
The groups plans, which were outlined for the first time last week in an interview with Mr. Law, call for hard-edge campaign tactics, including television advertising, against candidates whom party leaders see as unelectable and a drag on the efforts to win the Senate...

The Tea Party needs to send conservative nominees to some type of media boot camp so they don’t get tripped up in these obvious “gotcha” situations.
Run by somebody like Dana Loesch.
Even amateurs like myself realized the “war on women” theme after watching the first R primary debate with Journ O List Stephanopolous.
Rove’s plan will work out about as well as the 2012 election.
The war against the Tea Party rages on.
And half of FR will line up behind those candidates, telling conservatives that we have to ‘vote for the R’.
Which means that in the end, Rove will win and the Grand Old Plantation will resume apace.
Didn’t Rove’s PAC waste hundreds of millions of dollars on weak candidates, while Palin was giving us Cruz and Fischer?
@realDonaldTrump
If Karl Rove & @GOP Establishment continue to attack the Tea Party, who delivered in 2010, then there will be a 3rd Party in 2016.
Oh goodie, let’s have more Bend Over Boehners in DC.... /s
The republican logo will now become a rooster holding a lollipop.
Rove needs to channel his karma into investigating massive voter fraud instead of the queen of the senior prom.
Yes; Romney the RINO being the number one on THAT list, plus all the Incumbent RINO's. They're shuffling the deck chairs on the GOP-e Titanic, as we speak.
Conservative Candidates scare the beejeezus out of BOTH parties and the Talking Points are now out for the State-Run-Media to use the code word "Centrist" now, to identify the Big Government Progressives, like Rove, who want to thumb their noses at the Constitution, and continue the assault on Liberties for those who are Christian-based, Moral, Constitution supporters.
It’s not like we did not know that the Ruling Class Oligarchs had joined the MarxoFascists in going to war on Conservatives.
Some are enslaved mind, body and soul to the party plantation - but the fact is - the GOP are now the Judenrat for the MarxofFascist’s execution of their ‘final solution’ to all political opposition.
seriously folks, can you blame them or us? we had TWO candidates for congress who destroyed themselves without the help of anyone.
If anything, we just need to taget this group with effective, articulate, AND INTELLIGENT conservative candidates.
and idiot is an idiot whether rino or coservative.
And now they want more of the same.
It only take a good outspoken conservative like Ted Cruz to get the party to rally around Conservatism.
Ted Cruz already acts like the Senior Senator from Texas, and that's a very good thing. ...John Cornyn has taken notice, and that's good thing too!
Akin, at the minimum, could have recovered without the panicked GOP elites throwing him under the bus and calling him a loon.
Rove needs to try and repair his reputation after his disaster. He’s blaming others since it can’t be the fault of what my friend (An establishment Republican County Chair) called the Wile E Coyote Super Genius.
Rove is the embodiment of the democrat’s republican stereotype - fat, white, rich, southern. And he has the gall to lecture us about changing the image of the party.
The GOP is already in a coma.
I want to know exactly what Rove thinks he will accomplish by pinching the GOP feeding tube as the democrats happily goose step into full on fascism.
Shouldn’t he be more worried about moderating the party that actually needs it?
The sooner Ted Cruz BECOMES the senior Senator from Texas the better. Cornyn poured RSCC $$$ into Lisa Murkowski in an attempt to thwart Bob Miller in the Alaska nomination race. Then Murkowski was encouraged to run third party and won with GOP-E support. After all, she will gladly see babies killed, marriage undermined and Muffie’s trust fund protected as her (and the GOP-E’s) top priorities.
You are correct but that doesnt matter to some.
We have candidates that are easily trapped by the media and others.
We need to face facts and get candidates media trained.....
Todd Akins proved that point. NOw Rove and others can and will persuade others it was “their” fault.
