Chris Christie is immensely popular and is a huge favorite for reelection in New Jersey this year, with voters from across the political spectrum giving him the thumbs up.
When it comes to the national conservative base, though, the governor is at risk of earning a different one-finger salute.
Christie is already on probation with some conservatives for his praise of President Obamas work on Hurricane Sandy in the closing days of the 2012 election something a few critics have even suggested put the president over the top.
Now the potential 2016 presidential contender has lashed out at the National Rifle Association, calling a new ad from the group reprehensible for using Obamas daughters to make a political point.
To talk about the presidents children or any public officers children who have not by their own choice, but by requirement to have protection and to use that somehow to try to make a political point, I think, is reprehensible, Christie said. He added: I think its awful to bring public figures children into the political debate. They dont deserve to be there. And for any of us who are public figures, you see that ad and you cringe. You cringe because its just not appropriate to do that, in my opinion.

Within the Republican Party, there are certain groups you just dont mess with if you want to win primaries, and the NRA is one of them. As were seeing in the current gun debate, even many Democrats dont mess with the NRA...

That would be one big grease fire....
We should pass around the contact info to call the R party so we can tell them we’re renouncing our affiliation.
I plan on doing it as soon as I get a good contact.
My vote doesn’t count in primaries anyhow. I didn’t choose mclame or romney. And I want to tell them before I renounce.
They nominate him I will vote 3rd party in a heart beat or even a Democrat that lines up with my views(not holding my breath on that happening). I’m actually planning on changing my registration to be able to vote in the Democratic primary.
I think Hillary better wise up. She’s got some pretty big competition in Christie for the Dem nomination in 2016.
In addition to my previous post I would NOT be surprised if there is an extramarital activity smoldering below the surface.
Where’s the best climate in Alabama? Used to travel to Mobile and the Humidity was horrible, as was the crime rate.
Dave
Humidity is high for the whole state, just like the rest of the deep South. Stay away from Mobile, Montgomery, and Birmingham - all majority black cities with dysfunctional city governments and high crime rates.
Seriously doubt it.
Christie is a RINO.
And remember....
NO more RINOS |
My aunt from there thinks that veterans and military retirees don’t deserve a dime after leaving the service but that welfare is just fine.
amen thats what i think too
This whale beached himself over Sandy. The dems prop up this porker and this porker revels in it now.
Just wait until they apply the harpoon. Either way, the harpoon will come from the left and the right.
He is a dope, folks.
“I got you fat boy!”...
I’m sitting out Christie’s next run. Hope to be a SW Florida resident before then.
That's nice. I won't vote for him. Not ever.
Christie is trying to play the Arlen Specter game. It didn’t end well for Arlen and it will not end well for Christie.
Nobody likes a traitor to their side, but they sure as well will use them and then spit them out.
very true. although, keep in mind that Romney did not get the nomination his first time around in 2008. Back then folks saw him for the phony he was and he crashed and burned in IA and NH.
He won in 2012 by default, really. He was the next in line from 2008 and his competition was way past his prime Newt and Santorum. And each of them came very close to beating him. If Huckabee or Palin had run in 2011-12 they’d have beaten Romney.
So, I don’t know about it Christie in 2016. He could lose in 2016 and be in good shape for 2020, but 2016 is no lock for him.
But conservatives will need to rally behind one guy(or gal). We can’t have this situation like 2012 where Newt, Santorum, Perry, Bachmann, Cain etc... all split the vote or like 2012 where Fred, Huckabee, even Romney back then split the vote. That’s how we wound up with McCain and Romney.
If we can all unite behind one person early in 2015 they’ll be in great shape.
You could even see the moderate/establishment vote split among Christie, Ryan, Jeb Bush, etc...
