Ronald Reagan would approve of Mitt Romneys choice for a vice presidential running mate if he were alive today, his son, Michael told Newsmax, as he called Paul Ryan's selection the Republican hopefuls first great move.
Reagan, a Newsmax contributor added in an exclusive interview on Saturday that I hope its the first of many great moves.
He said that Wisconsin budget hawk Ryan will be able to stand toe-to-toe with President Barack Obama on key issues and will be a tremendous asset to a Romney administration with his expertise as chairman of the House Budget Committee.
It shows that Mitt Romneys willing to go outside the box of the normal and reach out and grab someone who really gets and understands whats going on with the economy and how to fix it, said Reagan.
He anticipates that Ryan will also breathe new life into the campaign, which had been struggling to regain momentum in recent weeks. Its going to really infuse some excitement and a lot of excitement probably within the conservative ranks, he said.
Following the long and bitter primary struggle, some on the right have felt disconnected from Romneys campaign. The decision to choose such a prominent conservative will undoubtedly resonate well with the right, according to Reagan.
We all knew that he had to figure out a way to reach out to conservatives. What he did with this was show that he wants a vice president that can be an active vice president. He said Ryan fits the bill and is "not just a vice president whos going to have lunch with him once a week, visit other countries, go to funerals, and sit in the Senate.
Reagan said the choice was reminiscent of his fathers Kitchen Cabinet back in the 1980s...

You might want to check the Constitution. Naturalized citizen has been in there for 235 years.
And answer my question. What does that this have to do with anything?
Are Jindal and Rubio worth 1/2 an American?
I’m sorry, but you’re sounding really idiotic - and bigoted.
Can somebody help diamond6? I’m tired.
My father was born in the United States of America in the 1930s. His parents and grandparents came to the United States from Italy in 1905.
My father was not eligible to be President of the United States (not that he ever wanted to be) because his dad was not a citizen of the United States.
2ndDivisionVet is correct!
Correction: His dad was a citizen but not a NBC.
I didn’t say the parents weren’t eligible!
I said Marco Rubio and Bobbhy Jindal are!
He is not correct! They are both naturalized citizens, and that’s why they could be president or VP.
Maybe you should take a citizen course. I’m sorry you’re so tired.
Again, answer the question!
Why are you denigrating Jindal and Rubio?
It’s a simple question.
I was not talking about the parents. I was talking about the son of the parents.
Nobody’s “denigrating” Jindal and Rubio anymore than I “denigrated” my dad. The law is the law.
So am I.
Am I speaking another language?
He said that Marco and Bobby are not natural born citizens. That’s false!
I started my “citizen course” on June 12, 1978 at Basic Combat Training, Company C, 1st Battalion, 3rd Brigade, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Good enough for you?
I think your contorting the term natural born citizen just a tad.
No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
Personally, I'm shocked. I'm guessing that the powers that be don't think the NBC issue is important enough to have to provide cover to Hussein this election.
They are probably right, because Mitt sure isn't going to say anything.
We read the Constitution. We question your ability to define “natural born citizen.”
I guess I didn’t learn anything from my conservative Constitutional Law professor in law school, or my U.S. History teacher in high school
Here’s what the 14th amendment says about who is a citizen: “All persons born or naturalized into the United States and subject to the juridiction thereof, are citizens of hte United States and other State in which they reside.”
Translation: If you are born in this country, you are automatically a citizen. That is, a “natural born citizen”. Capiche?
If that wasn’t the case, how could Jindal or Rubio even be considered for Vice President, since they would not be able to be President?
It is true that their parents were not “natural born citizens”. In fact, I don’t know if they were ever made citizens. That has no impact on Bobby or Marco are not natural born citizens.
So, again. What relevance does this have to anything? Are you assuming Bobby and Marco couldn’t be President? Or are they less than citizens who’s parents have been here longer?
I would, but I don't care enough to. Anyone reading this site for any length of time would have seen the facts by now on multiple occations. Facts don't mean anything if you're not willing to learn.
Correction: The parents status has no impact on Bobby and Marco’s becoming “natural born citizens”.
I guess the 14th Amendment means nothing. Read post above.
Well, as we all are painfully aware, it certainly never stopped the Kenyan Marxist or his goosestepping party.
How can a lawyer get “naturalized” and “natural born” mixed up? I doubt that I’ve ever been inside a law school, but I get that. Yes, they might be “citizens” but no, they are NOT natural born citizens. Sen. Rubio and Gov. Jindahl are ineligible because their parents were not US citizens at the time of their birth. We’ve been over and over and over this for four years.
You are totally confused -
NATURAL BORN CITIZEN - born on US soil to US citizen parentS.
NOTE - parentS have to be US citizens at time of the child’s birth in USA - parents can be natural born citizens or naturalized citizens.
If 1 or both parents is not US citizen at time of the child’s birth in USA, then the child is NOT a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN and cannot be the president or VP.
Natural born citizen is citizen by ‘nature’ (i.e. by place and by parentage). No law can make someone a natural born citizen.
Natural born citizen has UNdivided loyalty to USA.
Obama, Rubio, Jindal, with non-US citizen parent(s), are dual citizens (USA and Kenya, USA and Cuban, USA and India) and have divided loyalty.
NATURALIZED CITIZEN - some one who becomes a US citizen by law - some one who was born outside USA to non-USA parents can be ‘naturalized’ in USA to be a Naturalized US citizen.
Naturalized citizens are NOT natural born citizens, and cannot be the president or VP.
This is in the US constitution. This is NOT about disparaging the parents.
