The primary in my home state is May 8 and I won’t be voting for Romney. I’m trying to remain hopeful for a brokered convention.
Hi Guys,
I felt moved to post this thread with the intent of providing a dedicated place where we can go beyond mere grousing about the current state of affairs to trying to come up with substantive ways to deal with it.
I humbly beg your sufferance, Milords!
Resigned to Romney? No Way! It’s Time for Real Conservatives to Organize [Pro-America Caucus]
I think both parties are so corrupt it doesn’t matter.
I’m checking in to see how long it takes for the Romney lovers to invade. I also would like to voice my support for this thread and hope we can come up with usable ideas.
We better hope for lots of 3rd party voters to get out to the polls because Romney won’t get the job done.
I’ll probably vote for Virgil Goode and I want to get rid of Debbie Stupidcow.
1. Assisting some friends who are precinct delegate candidates.
2. Working with them to make sure the right individuals are party leaders.
3. Making sure good candidates are nominated in our August primary. I will be voting for Peter Konetchy for Senate. He's a constitutionalist.
4. This fall, I will be working to re-elect Tim Walberg and working to defeat Debbie Stupidnow. I haven't decided yet for POTUS.
Could Ron Paul beat Obama?
You should change the title of your post to:
“Reelect Obama!”
I’ve done all I can realistically do. I plan to spend the next few year hammering the winner of this farciful race, regardless of which Marxist it is.
A discussion thread you all might like to participate in?
The Republican Elite-Tea Party War will continue until one or the other is pushed out, we cannot peacefully coexist together.
Romney has flip the Bird to want was suppose to be the GOP base, I.E. The Conservatives, he was gained the Nomination without them. He cannot win the General however with out us, Now we must focus on our Local Elections, that is how we will gain this country back, from the Bottom Up, NOT the Top Down (or inside out as the Vile Despicable Van Jones says)
G-D Save us Conservatives.
Romney is just a person to make conservatives think the won and go back to sleep. Romney is just another POS.
We should certainly work to defeat romney and hope for a brokered convention. Although frankly that no longer seems likely.
If, as seems likely, the GOP decides to commit suicide, then somehow or other we need to unite behind a third party candidate. Or, to be more hopeful, a new second party candidate, since the GOP is determined to dump any remaining shreds of morality and common sense and go the way of the Whigs.
How to do that, I don’t know. It certainly won’t be easy. We need some trustworthy leadership. The only person I can think of to do it would be Sarah Palin, whether as organizer or as candidate (I wish!).
In any case, the libertarians among us need to realize two things.
1. No way conservatives can possibly win without a solid union of social conservatives and libertarians.
2. Also, no way that a free Republic is even possible unless a majority are willing to discipline themselves in the right way—which means to obey the basic moral laws, have stable families, do away with stuff like abortion, and return to the values that made our country great in the first place.
If anyone thinks that freedom means every man for himself, and everytone do whatever he damn well likes, then we are cooked. It’s OK if a few people on the fringes act like that, but if a majority does, then as Hobbes long ago argued, dictatorship is inevitable. If you cannot choose to do the right thing freely, then the government will do it for you—and they will have very peculiar ideas what the right thing is, as we are seeing right now.
This is beyond stupid.
This is beyond stupid.
Thanks for the thread!
Don’t know that I have anything profound to add. Two points:
First, supporting good Congressional and Senatorial candidates seems to be a priority. Different ways to do that: Contributing directly to the candidate, contributing to a conservative PAC, or getting involved directly. The last method may not be the most efficient, but it can be the most interesting. I have personally (with a few friends) run ads in newspapers for a conservative candidate. (One paper, I’m assuming with a liberal perspective, wouldn’t run the ad.) After I retire in perhaps 3 or 4 years, I might try radio ads, billboards, and other things. You can run a decent ad in a small town newspaper for about $100. If I remember correctly, a block of about twenty radio spots can be had for between $1000 and $2000 (don’t quote me on the price; going from vague memories). Seems like a billboard ran $500 to $1500. (Once again, don’t quote me. Very vague memories.) Other methods are available as well.
Second, I won’t be voting for either Romney or Obama. For a social conservative, neither seems to be an option; and giving the GOP-e reason to think that they have a lock on our vote regardless of the nominee will only guarantee increasingly liberal candidates in the future. I could say a lot, lot more, but perhaps you get the picture.
When someone says we should organize I automatically ask the question, “organize around what?”
I’m willing to coalesce, organize with, unify with, anyone who is in truth working for a return to America’s founding principles, the stated purposes of our Constitution, and adherence to the explicit requirements of that precious document.
