President Obama's visit to Mt. Holly, North Carolina on Wednesday to discuss energy policy and the economy was technically not a campaign stop, but he didn't shy away from adding some politically-tinged remarks during his taxpayer-sponsored visit.
"The next time you hear some politician trotting out some three-point plan for $2 gas, you let 'em know, we know better," Mr. Obama said, seemingly referencing Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich's pitch to bring gas prices down to $2.50 if he becomes president. "Tell 'em we're tired of hearing phony, election year promises that never come about."
Mr. Obama toured the Daimler Mount Holly Truck Manufacturing Plant, where he reiterated his support for an "all-of-the-above" energy strategy. He commended the plant for building trucks that use less oil, remarking that while domestic oil production should be increased, "we're not going to be able to just drill our way out of the problem of high gas prices."
Mr. Obama announced an initiative to make it easier for towns and cities to build fueling stations for cars that run on electricity, biofuels or natural gas. The initiative would also give tax breaks to families that buy those cars or companies that buy alternative-fuel trucks....

I want a station to refuel my unicorn-powered gyrocopter.
Oh, he is so going to get newtured. Yeah, you call out Newt, there Barry. Go ahead.
Almost as “phony” as Obama’s promise to cut the deficit in half. All I can say is 56% of the public had to be brain dead in ‘08.
I guess Obama never heard the one about the pot & kettle & a certain color.
“Tell ‘em we’re tired of hearing phony, election year promises that never come about.”
Given his record, I can’t believe he’s saying this....
You’d have to assume that Newt is lying to compare this pot to that kettle.
“Tell ‘em we’re tired of hearing phony, election year promises that never come about.”
It’s official now, folks. The man literally has no sense of shame.
I just happened to wander over to YouTube tonight and ended up listening to some old Reagan speeches and then Reagan’s funeral.
And then I hear Obama, such a cheap and tawdry man, so full of himself and so empty of what it means to be the president of the United States.
This from the guy who is actively destroying America in every way possible.
The month Obama took office gas prices were roughly $1.80 !!!
A BUCK EIGHTY!
This wasn’t ancient history. It was less than four years ago, and all on his watch.
Actually thats a beautiful quote because we could use it against him. We coudl only be tired of hearing false promises because we been hearing it from him for the past 4 years
I thought that to until I realized that just because you have a really blackened pot doesn't mean that your kettle is black too. Your kettle just might be really shiny and the pot is just plain jealous or maybe just a liar trying to draw attention away from his own shame.
Pot meet kettle. He’s such an ego maniac he may think his own record doesn’t count.
But gas prices did get up to nearly $4 under GWB’s term. That was on his watch. Let’s just say that presidents do not have power to control gas prices, and realize that it’s a full government process. Taxes, drilling, alternative fuels, and alternative transportation work together to bring about the price. My car died in October, and I haven’t bought a gallon of gas since. It’s probably the best thing that could have happened to my wallet. It’s forced me to make some changes to my lifestyle, but has not adversely affected me at all. A bus pass here in Austin costs $30 per month. That’s less than the cost of a tank of gas for one week. My parents want me to to take the $4000 that I have in the bank and put it on a new car, but I don’t think I will. I can get to my job across town with no problem, and I have tons of time to read. And I have plenty of money for anything else that might come up.

Democrats Eager to Exploit Anger Over Gas Prices
By MICHAEL JANOFSKY
NY Times- one paragraph snip
Officials at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which advises House candidates, said they sent a memorandum to candidates on Thursday offering guidance on using the issue to their advantage. The memorandum includes a sample statement that recommends telling voters, Americans are tired of giving billion-dollar tax subsidies to energy companies and foreign countries while paying record prices at the pump.

Those prices were 3.00 /gal in SOME places.
"We're the most transparent and ethical administration is U.S. history."
"Tell 'em we're tired of hearing phony, election year promises that never come about."
We start drilling Saudi and Iran will lower their price from $100-plus to $30/barrel within weeks.
World economy is weak including China, there is no reason for gas price going up.
Just like Newt said, just drill more to create jobs and pay off deficits by reducing trade deficit and by increasing federal tax revenue.
No brainer, just common sense.
