Arizona debate: Newt Gingrich – Part one

The mainstream media enjoys analyzing how the candidates performed but rarely replays the meat of an answer given by a candidate. The substance of what Newt Gingrich said in reply to the questions asked by CNNs John King will help Oklahoma voters make their decision of who to vote for in the March 6th Presidential Primary.

The first question asked was regarding the candidates’ plan to bring down the national debt. Gingrich’s response was to create jobs and spur economic growth. He also suggested that the Federal government open federal land and offshore areas to energy production. He also mentioned that the management system being used by the government is antiquated – 130 years old, and a modern system for federal employees to eliminate waste needs to be instituted. He also wants the government to recognize the 10th Amendment of the Constitution and return much of the mechanism of government to the states.

On February 21 Mitt Romney proposed a tax plan that would make the top tax rate 28% of income, eliminate the capital gains tax for people earning less than $200K per year, and lower the corporate tax rate to 25%. Speaker Gingrich was asked if he agreed with this plan. His reply was that Romney was moving in the right direction, but he would not put a cap on the elimination of capital gains because it causes class warfare and can stifle the economy. Gingrich proposed a modernization of the government where the government worked alongside the states to solve problems like the border with Mexico. His conclusion was that if government is modernized with cutting taxes and developing domestic energy a balanced budget would result....

Romney’s “new” plan is still woefully timid, compared to Newt’s. Romney’s plan doesn’t really change the system enough to jolt the economy.

The media is so lazy and ignorant. Journalists are intimidated by policy and substance - robbing the public of careful analysis and unbiased reporting.

They truly are overpaid movie critics. Mention Clint Eastwood and they will type “Make my Day”...Arnold Schwarzenegger and they will type “I’ll be baaack”. Clinton “I did not have sex with that woman’.

We have fallen so far and ‘we can’t get up’.

Journalists know only one thing - that journalists are better than the rest of us. They know that they are objective, and we are not. They’re right about the latter, and dead wrong - provably - about the former. If you know that you are objective, that very “knowledge" makes you hopelessly subjective, since there is no way to prove objectivity.
