In October, Sarah Palin announced that she would not run for president in 2012, ending the media frenzy around her potential candidacy even as she vowed to remain politically active and influential.
I will continue driving the discussion for freedom and free markets, she wrote in an e-mail to her supporters.
Just over three months later, her attempts to wield influence in the presidential campaign the way she did during the 2010 midterm elections have largely fizzled.
And the Tea Party movement that she helped to turn into a powerful political force in 2010 has so far displayed little impact on the course of the 2012 Republican presidential campaign.
Over the last two weeks, Ms. Palin has urged voters in South Carolina and Florida to vote for Newt Gingrich as a way of striking back against the Republican establishment in Washington and against liberals.
If for no other reason, rage against the machine, vote for Newt. Annoy a liberal. Vote Newt. Keep this vetting process going, keep the debate going, Ms. Palin said on Fox News two days before Tuesdays primary in Florida.
Ms. Palin, who pointedly said she was not endorsing anyone in the Republican contest, draped her remarks in the anti-establishment rhetoric of the Tea Party, saying that Washington Republicans who oppose Mr. Gingrich were fighting against the cause of freedom....

That's some of the revisionist nonsense that clintoons worshipers in the media have spread for years. And it is bunk.
Fact: Clintoon beat Dole (a VERY weak candidate)by only 8.2 million votes.
Clintoon did NOT even get a majority of the vote as that jug eared numskull Perot got over 8 million votes.
When you look at the single biggest decrease in voting by block between 1994 and 1996 - yep - the most conservative had the biggest decline.
Clintoon did NOT win that election - it was handed to him by the apathy of the conservative base, caused a weak candidate and some kind of misplaced feeling that we had ‘won’ in 94, and no more work was required.
And yes, sadly that does feel like today.
Michael Steele, who was president of the RNC when the rule was past said that Florida had no business giving all delgates to Romney, and the current pres. of RNC wrote a letter in Dec. telling them the vote was to be distributed.
All media is spreading the meme that "Romney won by large numbers", when he didn't. Romney has sent out spokes people who repeat the meme. If you are familiar with Alinsky it is a way to dishearten Newt's followers.
DO NOT BE DISHEARTENED......FIGHT BACK! See my tagline join the cause.
I like that instead of silent majority....We are Flying Below the Radar.....or simply “Below Radar”.
What happened in FL?
Team Mitt spent 25 million dollars and gained 25 delegates.
Pretty simple.
If Team Sarah was responsible for the win in SC, what happened in FL?
Was Team Sarah not on the job?
Are victories to be attributed to Our Sarah but never defeats?
Or maybe split the difference and admit that she's just a mere mortal.
It’s entertaining to still hear from you three whiners, whimpering because you can’t get a woman fight your political battles for you the way you think she should.
Especially nice to hear humblegrumbler continue to make a fool of himself, or is it herself?
Cool, you’ve got wi-fi at the highway rest stop.
Made any money yet?
The reason is, conservatives in general get busy when they see a threat, get after it one or two election cycles, and when it seems that they might be pretty well left alone, they go back to making a living and tending their families ‘til the next agressive action against them.
For the liberal, they want something specific from government, and they know politics is a continuing game and so they just stay organized and make politics a part of their life.
Revisionist? No, I was right there, nearly 28-years old and voting for Dole. Republicans fielded a weak candidate because nobody felt confident about beating Clinton. "Might as well run ol' man Dole. It's his turn and we're going to lose anyways" was what the Republican establishment was thinking. Even if every Perot vote is added to Dole's numbers, Clinton still wins.
It's a little different this year. In 1996, the economy was booming and people were relatively optimistic. Today? Malaise, depression and anxiety. Yet the Republican front-runners are possibly the two worst candidates the party could field. We have Mitt Romney, a liberal with an 'R' next to his name who sends the base fleeing and Newt Gingrich, who retains the base and sends everyone else fleeing. In the worst economy since the Great Depression, the race seemed impossible to lose. I'm afraid we're going to find a way.
I was also once a 28 year old working on an election, but it was for Ford trying to keep that idiot Carter out of the White House. And believe me, the story is always the same. Conservatives will man-up and score a touchdown, but we won't put the game away. It was the same thing in the 80’s. In 1984, Reagan DID actually win by a landslide. We responded by going to sleep and letting the democraps win back the Senate in ‘86.
In 1994 I was up to my elbows in the mid terms. I could get anything I wanted. From contributions to bodies. It was like that across the country. We took back Congress and seemed poised to cut the head off the snake. Yet in 1996, the same people that had been willing to do anything in 1994, would hardly return calls.
As much as I despise liberals, I have to take my hat off to them for one thing: they will stick to it until they get what they want. If conservatives would ever stick to it and finish the job, we could straighten this country out. But I'm afraid every victory causes us to think we can go back to sleep. And then the process repeats.
It took me at least two weeks and a promise to Jimrob to change my ways. I’ve kept my word and intend to stay above the fray.
You'll get no argument from me here. I don't think I've ever been more disappointed in Republican governance than I was between the elections of 2002 and 2006 when we controlled all branches of government --and governed like free-spending Democrats! So much opportunity squandered.
Ignore the facts at your own peril.
Just like Dorthy said in the Wizard of Oz, there's no place like home. The "shellacking," in November had everything to do with the Tea Party.
Keep knocking your heals together GOP elite, you will find that you're not in Kansas anymore.
We are approaching the abyss, I trust the American people will choose wisely.

Florida is what happens when libs are allowed to vote in GOP primaries. My solution is you must have been a registered Republican in the last presidential election to vote in the next presidential primary. How stupid are we to let libs pick our nominee.
Don't worry, he asks me that bullsh*t question all the time, and I have no freakin' idea what he means by it. Maybe it's what they ask at the halfway house when you report in to your P.O. or something.
Remember though that BJ won both times with a plurality due to HRP.
Unfortunately Rush took away any claim to voting purity when he championed Op Chaos in 2008.
A Republican Congress led by Newt Gingrich. Something folks in FL seem to forget.
And believe me, the story is always the same. Conservatives will man-up and score a touchdown, but we won’t put the game away. It was the same thing in the 80s. In 1984, Reagan DID actually win by a landslide. We responded by going to sleep and letting the democraps win back the Senate in 86.

Hi, my young friend, in our family we keep souvenirs in our family from every American conflict, incident, civil unpleasantness etc, It’’s my turn until I decide, which cousin or son receives this antique trove of US Military swag. There are Guidons, Battle flags, flintlocks, 1863 muskets South/North, calvary sabers, Pennsylvania rifles, Krag, Springfield, Girand rifles and even a couple of Bowie knives.
We also have boxes of medals won, worn and wept over from the very first, a George Washington Medal for Bravery, to a pile of today’s better known Purple Heart(s). Expert marksmen tie tacs. We have a Silver star, two Bronzes and lots of ribbons from Cuba to Iraq. Five fragile paper Gold Window Stars, We also have eleven folded Triangular Stars & Stripes. Seven given out after combat posthumously. There are medals, I can’t find copies of in any book about military decorations. Some apparently came from the grateful nation of France 20 years apart. A dozen more from countries in SE Asia are written in alien tongues.
Should the sad day come when a nation denied the soap box, the ballot box and only the cartridge box remains, we’ll take up those sacred relics and remove these diseased minds. This type of thinking is a mental illness. It must be wiped out and then educated out.
