With a lot of media attention, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin visited the nations capital over the weekend to kick off a bus tour, in which she will visit various national landmarks. But some see the trip as a campaign stunt for a possible 2012 presidential campaign.
On Mondays Special Report, syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer offered his thoughts on the bus tour, but admitted he wasnt clear on what was motivating it.
I dont know its more eccentric than usual, this event, Krauthammer said. She says she is going around to highlight the foundation of the country. I dont want to be picky but generally we say the founding of the country. I know Ill get e-mail on that.
Regardless of the motivation for the tour, Krauthammer suggested it would keep Palins brand fresh. He also noted that it would be problematic if both Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann and Palin ran for president, citing an unscientific Fox News poll.
But does the country need reminding about the Constitution and the Gettysburg Concord, which is not in New Hampshire, its in Massachusetts? Im not sure what she is doing except to say Im with Juan [Williams]. I think if she is still here with Fox, she is not running. She is not running. What I think she is doing to trying to keep the brand vibrant. During the next 18 months when all the attention will be to other candidates, and she showed what she can do. At Rolling Thunder she came, she saw, she sucked all the oxygen out of the room. There is nobody who can do that as she can. But as we saw in the poll, it looks as if she and Bachmann would be splitting this constituency that they have. And Bachmann, you know, this is unscientific poll but she clearly can represent that position and draw as Palin does, equally well.
Later during segment, Krauthammer clarified his remarks, saying he confused a Palin gaffe with a Bachmann gaffe.
Let me just say, it was Bachmann who slipped up on Concord, not Palin, Krauthammer said. I didnt mean to imply otherwise. But Bachmann is a stronger and more organized candidate for that constituency.

That is why ‘The Undefeated’ is being made.
Amazing how he has been touted here over the years
It’s pure ignorance for any social conservative to laud this man
I agree, BTM. You are one savvy guy. Can you become our political analyst here at FR?

How dense is this guy? The Founding is history. The Foundation is what we have today. And frankly that Foundation is looking pretty weak.
Huckabee is still at Fox. Newt and Santorum stopped being analysts at Fox, though, because they were going to run.
Only bothers people who wouldn't vote for her anyway. It's a dumb argument. It doesn't matter at all, to anybody that matters.
I think her contract reads ... “we pay you a lot of money to be a Fox News contributor, and you don't have to do very much”
Sorry Chuck, I don’t think “founding” applies to a trip to Gettysberg? No, “foundation” of our country is much more accurate!
You're right, Gingrich and Santorum were suspended. Sorry about that.
Just prooves they never will get it.
“I hate to be picky” But I will anyway. Stick it Kraut. She will either run or she won’t but I don’t think most people would call riding in Rolling Thunder eccentric. I think they would call it fun.
They also stated that the reason they dumped News and Santorum and not Huckabee [at the time] was because Huck had not initiated an exploratory committee, etc., yet. Sarah hasn’t done any of those traditional things either. She’s smarter than the average bear.
When Krauthammer starts saying “Palin’s comma should actually be a semicolon,” you know the GOP establishment is #1 panicked and #2 without any legit criticisms of Palin.
This founding/foundation nitpick is absurd (and CK is wrong).
Time for the Krauthole to pack it in.
“...I think her quitting as Governor would be used against her....”
Let’s see........ hhmmmmm..... let me think now.... just WHO was it that was an Illiniois Senator for just a very short while....... then began running for prez, voting present most of the time. Oh, I see. That’s totally different, right?
GET A GRIP!
BINGO! She is one if not the most politically savvy politicians around, its unorthodox and very unconventional for sure to the inside beltway politician/media but there is sanity behind the so-called “madness”
First Christine O’Donnell.
Now, it’s starting to look like Krauthammer has a thing about women.
Just saying...
And Krauthammer further shreds his relevance.
