With a lot of media attention, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin visited the nations capital over the weekend to kick off a bus tour, in which she will visit various national landmarks. But some see the trip as a campaign stunt for a possible 2012 presidential campaign.
On Mondays Special Report, syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer offered his thoughts on the bus tour, but admitted he wasnt clear on what was motivating it.
I dont know its more eccentric than usual, this event, Krauthammer said. She says she is going around to highlight the foundation of the country. I dont want to be picky but generally we say the founding of the country. I know Ill get e-mail on that.
Regardless of the motivation for the tour, Krauthammer suggested it would keep Palins brand fresh. He also noted that it would be problematic if both Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann and Palin ran for president, citing an unscientific Fox News poll.
But does the country need reminding about the Constitution and the Gettysburg Concord, which is not in New Hampshire, its in Massachusetts? Im not sure what she is doing except to say Im with Juan [Williams]. I think if she is still here with Fox, she is not running. She is not running. What I think she is doing to trying to keep the brand vibrant. During the next 18 months when all the attention will be to other candidates, and she showed what she can do. At Rolling Thunder she came, she saw, she sucked all the oxygen out of the room. There is nobody who can do that as she can. But as we saw in the poll, it looks as if she and Bachmann would be splitting this constituency that they have. And Bachmann, you know, this is unscientific poll but she clearly can represent that position and draw as Palin does, equally well.
Later during segment, Krauthammer clarified his remarks, saying he confused a Palin gaffe with a Bachmann gaffe.
Let me just say, it was Bachmann who slipped up on Concord, not Palin, Krauthammer said. I didnt mean to imply otherwise. But Bachmann is a stronger and more organized candidate for that constituency.

Woo-Hoo!
Just like you told me earlier today, when you make your choice, you’re solid!
Krauthammer doesn't understand America's "foundation" because his foundation is in Gramscian Marxism and cultural hegemony.
This is not a joke, and it is not meant to be funny. These communists masquerading as Republicans must be defeated, as much as the overt communists in the Democrat party.
The funny thing, though, is that “they” are some of the supposed “us”.
I hope that makes sense. ;o)
Bump dat!
As I alluded to in my above post...
You were much more bold and articulate.
Yeah I know. He used to be fiercely conservative but now all I hear him do is bash them. He is still a republican right? Geez
Sarah Can and Will Win. We will make sure of such!
I had to turn off Glenn Beck's program today because his sub was an idiot, and his callers were also. One of them was so anti Palin he was beyond disgusting. He wanted someone strong(man) to head the ticket with her as VP so she could take all the slings and arrows, flak, and of course bring all her millions of supporters with her to the ticket. This is how these dorks think. Let her continue to be trashed and do all the work so they could end up tinkle talking with the Male President.
These people have no clue how anti female they sound. They want the Women to do the work, and take all the $hit while they grab all the glory.
I was a Mitt Romney supporter last time, but hell will freeze over before I support him again.
Who the heck talks like that? Other than elitist snobs? They just don't understand the thinking of the common man. When Palin says she is concerned about the direction her country is taking, she isn't talking about her own fortunes. Not everyone is selfish, self centered snobs like you, Krauthammer. If you live to be 100, you'll never understand the makeup of patriotic Americans like the Palins. And another thing, Charles, we outnumber you. We're taking our country back before your kind completely destroys it.
Fox was explicit in the criteria by which they would take a prospective candidate off the air—and Palin has been careful not to meet those criteria.
So he starts talking up Bachmann to try to stop Palin.
She hasn’t said she plans to form an exploratory committee or to run, which were the criteria for Fox taking someone off the air. That doesn’t mean she won’t decide to run.
She was being sued into financial submission. I agree it will come up but it’s an unfair criticism. To all those that knocked your concerns i say say let’s not fool ourselves. This woman has been dragged around in the press like a broken pinata. A planned vicious character assassination and nothing less. The hill to climb for her winning the nomination is not that steep as the base will bring her across the finish line but the general election is a totally different horse race.
Palin has said repeatedly that we need to restore the foundation of our country. Restoring the ‘founding’ doesn’t really make sense.
Huckabee and Santorum are NO Palin. When Palin is on Fox, I (and probably a million others) tune in. When Huckabee appears, I generally switch to a Seinfeld rerun. Fox probably gets this.
And a sensitive one, too! He predicts he’ll get an email! Poor ole Charlie!
Krauthammer is way overrated. He’s obviously carrying water for the Rove branch of the GOP. No one should listen to this clown.
The only thing that's certain is that the hangover comes in the morning and Americans are nothing if not ferociously loyal to their Ladies. Love 'em or leave 'em oh nit picky ones. I love 'em.
That is it for Krauthammer and me. He has been officially moved into the Mute Button Club.
Krauthammer hates women sooooo much
that he confused Gov. Palin with Ms. Bachmann.
No problem for a poser like Krauthammer
who supported Obama and the DNC in that last election.
Because, to the MSM, THAT makes him a “conservative”.
That is unfair to jackasses.
Krauthammer is a backstabbing, untrustworthy skank for Romney
and Obama (twins of Soros).
