O’Reilly: Trump, Bachmann And Palin Are ‘Grenades’ That Could Do ‘A Lot Of Damage’ In The Primary
Mediaite ^ | April 19, 2011 | Alex Alvarez

On The Factor this evening, host Bill O’Reilly took a good, hard look at several big Republican names rumored to be considering a run in 2012 – and he didn’t like what he saw.

Karl Rove, George W. Bush’s former senior adviser, was on hand to rate potential candidates, whom, as he sees it, have three challenges that they must face: 1. Clearly defining their “narrative,” 2. giving firm examples of what they will do to unify the Republican party (you might recall that Rove previously stated that he felt Republicans who were also “birthers” would do well to focus on “real issues” instead), and 3. preparing themselves for their moment in the spotlight.

O’Reilly, rather delightfully referring to himself as the “King of Cable News,” added that just getting known in politics is extremely difficult if you don’t “the machine” behind you… like, say, George Bush, Jr. had.

He then turned his focus on Donald Trump, Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann, all of whom he referred to as flamboyant, attention-grabbing “grenades” who could do “great damage” in the primaries should they in fact decide to run. He added that Trump doesn’t have to put forth the “hard job” of being a candidate because he has the luxury, of sorts, of being known for his work on TV. Kove disagreed, saying the work of being candidate requires a little more hand-shaking and baby-kissing than can be done from the cold glow of a television set.

Both men agreed that Trump’s focus on President Barack Obama’s birth certificate could hurt him, despite the very loud segment of the Republican Party rallying behind him on this point. “Give the Republicans more credit,” said Rove, “than to be simply focused on Barack Obama and his birth certificate.”

We'll see what kind of man he is when she announces. . Carries grudges? Guess he doesn't want to go to Sarah's WH Press Corps party. . Take that Baxter.

I stopped watching the RINO News Channel several months ago and have been happier ever since.

I look at FOX when Sarah is on. Sometimes I catch Greta if she has someone on that seems interesting. Other than that, I never look at FOX. I am happier too. It's a center left organization. I get most of my news from here.

If I wrote what I thought about BOR, I would be banned. Karl, the wimpy girly man, Rove is a total loser. He is a petty, weak, sissified man.

His attacks on Sarah and Christine clearly showed that he has a very strong misogynist streak.

Then I remembered, months ago she said that if a REAL CONSERVATIVE candiate emerged, who had what it takes to win the election and govern properly, SHE WOULD NOT RUN. From where I sit, there’s NOBODY in sight who fills the bill. She’ll probably HAVE TO RUN!

Exactly what I thought when she said that. Her 'criteria', so to speak, to not run have not been met. No one even comes close to meeting her criteria - a rock solid go get em' core value conservative with 'the fire'. Who else is there except Sarah? I think she'll announce in June - or maybe July 4th! Just sayin'. .

ALL of the bad decisions that Bush ever made had your little pudgeball ass behind them. ,

As always, you have great posts! Freepers need to be reminded that Rove indeed greatly weakened Bush. The 04 election should have been a wipe out and thanks to girly man Rove, it was almost lose.

Rove is a wholly contemptible human.

I guarantee that after Sarah wins the GOP nomination, Rove and BOR will cry and rant how she is certain to loose. I can't wait to see their faces once Sarah wins. (EV >370) After Jan 2013, I hope Rove is never heard from again.

Yep, she said it. Somewhere in my mind, I felt from the moment I heard her say that, that she already knew that no one of her caliber would emerge to run for president.

And now she says that "it's too early to announce." Sweet! I know what that means. I've been thinking for some time that she's taking her own sweet time, and gearing up for the big show, behind the scenes.

She's also making the girlie men in the Republican stable crazy with waiting to see whether she's in or out.

Gotta love it.

My guess is that FNC President Roger Ails’ strategy is targeting everyone to the right of the CNN audience and employing a strategy similar to that of RINOs: see how much you can hack conservatives off without totally losing them.

A long time ago I got rid of television.

One of the great benefits is I never hear or see Bill O’Reilly. Ever. And I’ve almost forgotten what Rove looks like.

Many FReepers realize that Trump is no conservative.

"Many", perhaps "most", but unfortunately not "all" :-) And, to give credit where credit is due, addressing this issue has certainly gained Trump some popularity in conservative circles.

Ted and Tokyo are in way over their paygrade. Unless someone good is on we don’t even watch it anymore. Except for Wed Dennis Miller.

Karl Rove is pressed up against the windshield as the wheels come off the clown bus.

Bill O'Reilly is banging around inside the gas tank because that's where the gas goes.

Rush says Trump, Palin, and Bachmann are showing us how you "take it to Obama."

Right now very few of the Republican candidates are satisfactory to me. Even Palin fails when it comes to illegal aliens and correcting THAT problem. See:

You mean winning the 2004 election, which should have been a slam dunk, by just a few points? I was never very impressed with Rove and I am very glad that I missed him and O’Reilly. I cannot imagine a more unappealing pair of elitist twits to watch.

LOL! I love that graphic!

However, for once I do have to defend O’Reilly. He’s finally realized that Obama and Soros want to crach our economy.

+1 for him...though very late.

The fix is in. They are inside the Beltway. Try to be fashionable. They are useless. The States will have to lead out and put a stop to them. Remind me of a bunch of gossiping movie critics.
