Sarah Palin leaves N.H. out in cold for now
The Boston Herald ^ | December 1, 2010 | Katy Jordan

Posted on 11/30/2010 11:23:32 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Sarah Palin may be a media phenom, but disgruntled New Hampshire Republican leaders are still waiting to learn when the top GOP contender will visit the key primary state.

“Several groups have asked her to come, but she’s playing it cool,” said Diane Bitter, chairwoman of the Rye Republican Town Committee. “Last year we were told that she wouldn’t come, and recently people have gotten the same response.”

The first state in the nation to hold a presidential primary, New Hampshire is already seeing GOP presidential hopefuls canvass the state. Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, U.S. Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty all have visited in recent months, and Mitt Romney — who owns a vacation home in Wolfeboro — is a frequent glad-hander and fund-raiser in the state.

Palin, meanwhile, has repeatedly ignored requests for appearances, according to town committee leaders.

“A lot of people are surprised Palin hasn’t made a visit or contact,” said Manchester GOP chairman Cliff Hurst. “Maybe she’s getting enough press as it is.”

“If she’s running for president, she’s doing it in a different way, that we know,” said Dennis Hogan, Nashua GOP chairman, adding, “but different sometimes works.”

As the Herald reported yesterday, the former Alaska governor has overshadowed Romney with a bestselling book, a hit reality show, and regular appearances on Fox News.

But analysts warn if Palin intends to skip Main Street meet-and-greets in favor of TV and Twitter, she may miss out on Granite State votes.

“I get the impression that (Palin) is generally more interested in running a media-based campaign, rather than a grassroots campaign,” said Jennifer Lucas, assistant professor of politics at St. Anselm College in Manchester. “Here in New Hampshire, there’s no evidence that works.”

Many on the left try to put that yoke on her, but conservatives don't.

She is one of those people that thrive on opposition...she just throws it back in the face of those that slander her and she laughs while doing it...that is quite a plus to many. You kick me, expect to get kicked back and she enjoys doing it.....admirable trait..

I wonder what that attitude does to our enemies...The Russians learned to fear Reagan when he fired the air traffic controllers...they knew he wasn't a pussy footed president.

Obama and Clinton were laughted at by the enemies of this country...they were both seen as weak kneed and it proved to be true. But that goes with being a democrat president. We will not mention the idiot Carter. He still thinks he's important...

I did!

Palin resigned because she knew that the GUNS OF DNC were aimed at her destruction in AK. Vichy Republicans of AK were all in the tank of OBAMA just to get rid of Palin.

The two Obamaoists who led this explicit destruction of a state Governor through lies and conspiracy at the expense of AK people are now working full time in Obama’s cabinet. Some gossips in AK indicated that bribery were also involved to encourage idiotic citizens to file bogus ethics complaints against Palin.

AS IT TURNED OUT, IT WOULD BE A GOOD WEAPON AGAINST OBAMA IN 2012!

Fellow Freepers, whenever you hear something like this:

I question her competency based on her history.,

just ignore whatever follows, and don't bother to respond...this is the work of the enemy, don't waste your time

yea, i think you need to rethink that position.

if she were nothing but a blunt butter knife, she wouldn’t be able to whip the leader of the worlds only superpower from her bedroom via twitter

my guess, when she puts her mind to it, she crushes her opponents handily.

just ask joey biden how he felt after his debate... long before she was coached and trained by the pros.

she will be more then ready.

Wow, you keep saying you’re leaving FR because everyone here thinks she is the Messiah, but you haven’t left yet? How can we miss you if you won’t go away?

OK, here is why I like Sara Palin as a candidate for President, as you requested.

She is the only one of the possible candidates for the office that I feel that I can trust that what comes out of her mouth is the absolute truth as she knows it at the time. No weasel words, no spin, she lays it right down the middle, across the plate.

Does she make gaffes? Yep. Do you? I seem to average about three a day myself. But afterwords, she has a good laugh at herself, points out her misspoken mistake and goes on with her day, same as you or I would.

I like her because she appears to take the same positions as I do on any number of issues. When you see her on TV or read one of the numerous articles she puts in print, I don’t get the feeling that I’m being talked down to. There is none of this attitude that there is an issue out there that she feels I might not be sophisticated enough to fully appreciate.

I like her because she DIDN’T go to Harvard. We have one now who did and all I can say is that I’m glad my son decided to brew beer instead of going to law school. Harvard was on his short list.

I would like a President that I could understand. I understood Reagan. He didn’t speak in terms that didn’t have any meaning. The words he used were simple, direct, and powerful. Nobody misunderstood what he said and what he meant. Mrs. Palin reminds me of Mr. Reagan when she speaks, and no, I am not trying to make her into another Reagan, you only get one of those in a lifetime, if you are lucky.

I could go on at some length here, but let me close with this. I feel like I share something in common with Sara Palin, my families life and her families life are very similar in some ways. We both have to work, to provide, to protect, to prosper, to grow. I’m sure that I’m not the only one who feels this way about her.

Try overlaying your life with Romney, how’s that work? Not so much, huh. How about Newt, Huckleberry, Pence, or Barbour, how does your life compare with theirs?

Maybe I’m just not sophisticated enough to be a voter.

If Tina Fey, SNL, and the lovely Katie Couric have anything to do with it, Governor Palin will be cut off at the pass. - However, I doubt Palin’s running if another candidate worth their salt enters. She’s doing more good right where she’s at. - I’d take her in a New York nanosecond over this that we have in the White House right now.

She doesn’t need New Hampshire.

Amen. These snobs in NH think the whole damn primary process revolves around them. I'm sure that Governor Palin is quite aware that the game is rigged in New Hampshire...democrats will cross over in large numbers to vote for the weakest GOP candidate (Romney), and the media circus over Palin's first primary defeat will be unlike anything you have ever seen...if anything; the NH primary should be among the last to be held...long after REAL Republicans have had a chance to choose their candidate.

One of the things that bothers me about new Freepers is that they never have a personal page. I always suspect that. If you don’t even have the courage to post your home state, why should I take anything you have to say seriously? I notice Hospice Nurse does not list her state. That’s her privilege but it seems cowardly to me.

Mrs. Palin is damaged goods. Her original comments out of the starting gate looked and sounded ridiculous to the American public.

Welcome to 2010 (nearly 2011) - where Gov. Palin has had many more opportunities to speak and write in order to get her views out, as well as forward the Conservative movement as a whole. Those who have dismissed her as "damaged goods" because of what was said and done during the 2008 campaign probably won't be interested in voting for a conservative candidate anyways.

That said, concerning your "reasons" for her being "damaged goods" -

1) Her grandchild out of wedlock when she calls for Family Values

Nonsense. Young people - including those who were raised as they should have been - make mistakes. Gov. Palin demonstrated her family values by showing how a family can work through the circumstances of an unplanned pregnancy without resorting to adoption or abortion. And all of this in the midst of a full-out media assault.

2) her abandonment of the Governorship when she cold have fought the fight

Also nonsense. It has been explained here numerous times that she couldn't have fought the fight without huge cost to the state, or crippling cost to herself. In either case, it would have been disruptive to the good of the State for her to be tied up with the situation that was brewing. She left the Governorship, but only because it was the best thing for Alaska. (I would be shocked if you could actually make a case that it was better for her to not leave.)

3) her early complete misanalyses of the world situation

This is the only one of these that might hold some water. Gov. Palin did make some serious misstatements early on, and is not helped by things like her most recent gaffe about North/South Korea.

However, there is still plenty of time for her to bone up on these circumstances before the primary fight gets into full-swing.

-----

Her subsequent strident posture has energized he Conservative base, but has probably sent most middle-thinking Independents scurrying away.

If anything will send the middle-thinking Independents away, it will be the conservative POSITIONS of Gov. Palin and the Conservative base. If we need to nominate squishy RINOs to gain the middle-thinking Independents, then I'm not interested in having them.

If Sarah is such a miserable failure; then WHY does the media attack her 24/7? According to them; she is stupid and irrelevant...but they hang on her every word, and continue to attack. They ignore Huckabee, Romney, Gingrich, and the rest...all their vitriol is reserved for Sarah. You have to ask yourself ‘why’?

“May I suggest that to tag someone who disagrees with you as a “leftist” is a standard liberal tactic?”

If you criticize Obama then you must be a racist.
If you criticize Palin you must be a sexist.
If you criticize Romney you must be anti-Mormon.
Eventually people will become so sick of this PC crap and America will finally get a chance to heal.

But the “quitter” label is unfair.

She quit 4 colleges, she quit the oil and gas board too. There is a pattern of not finishing the few things she has tried. If it had just been the goveror's position, I could accept it.

There is only one question anyone needs to ask about Palin.

Can Palin win more states than McCain did against Obama.

And if you think she can't, you need to get your brain checked. Because McCain was the worst candidate EVER.

Remember that McCain lost EVERY toss up state PLUS a few that shouldn't even have been in the mix. Palin will win all of those, if unemployment stays near 10%.
