This is by far one of the most amazing and saddest videos (audios) I have ever seen/heard. More than anything else, the following is exhibit A about lawful gun owners in America, particularly those who have used their weapons to defend themselves. Far from the gun-crazed, trigger happy racists the liberal antigun crowd would have you believe, they are really just regular folks who want to go about their business. The remorse in the woman's voice at the end of the video gave me goosebumps. And the dispatcher deserves a medal for being as supportive as she was of this brave woman defending herself and her home. It's a tragedy, no matter how you look at it. You can read the full story and hear the entire 34 minute 911 call here.

Can’t believe how long this woman is on the phone before she finally has to shoot to kill.
She isn’t that far from downtown and I wonder where the cops where.
By my clock it took 32 mins for the cops to respond properly.
Not true. The city of Cushing was my customer in the 80’s and they have a local police force and OHP.
I wonder what the dudes problem was, sheese, scary stuff.
OK...geographically speaking I understand why it took so long now.
When a woman doesn’t know if she’s going to be raped, killed or both, and she has a gun, she has to make the decision to defend herself. Second guessing could get a woman killed.
This woman will never be the same but when the shock wears off, she’ll also be empowered by it. She saved her own life.
Prayers incoming for her to reconcile her fears and know that if God didn’t expect her to defend herself, she wouldn’t have been awakened by the dog and she wouldn’t have had access to the shotgun.
Thanks!
I stand corrected...local news here claims its a rural area
This poor woman. You just listen to her anguish over the phone in the aftermath. Brings tears to your eyes.
I am listening now and at the 17 minute mark. She is crying and so am I.
Just awful.
Yep - when seconds count the police are only minutes away...
The Local police are 10 minutes away, if they are at the station.
The OHP is on patrol all the time but not anywhere near there. They prefer to hang out on 33 looking for speeder and drunks.
E 800 Road is 8 or 9 miles south of downtown.
Cops should have been there in less than 10 minutes.
Still, does let you know how much reliance you can place on someone to defend your life.
Son of a ... This woman is crying on the phone with her son, who is a police officer, someone she would rely on for safety snd comfort.
I can’t imagine a son and mom on the phone after this.
It seemed like an eternity on the tape.
It is.
“That poor woman, she’ll never be the same after being forced to defend herself.”
You are right, I have never killed anyone (hope I never have to) but know people who have and it changed them.
Don’t know the exact quote (believe it was Bogart) but it went something like this “It’s a terrible thing to kill a man, you take away everything he is or ever will be”. Unfortunately the world is filled with evil and sometimes there is no acceptable alternative.
Wow, tragedy heaped upon tragedy ...
I believe that was Clint Eastwood as Will Munny in "Unforgiven". I found it listed as: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
HEY,
if the donuts are fresh and hot you’ll just have to be a little patient.
