For President: None of the Above!
www.humanevents.com ^ | 05/07/2008 | Joseph Farah

It's probably no secret to anyone who reads my column regularly that I will not be voting for either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton for president.

But I also will not be voting for John McCain.

I could tell you all the reasons and have expressed them already in a number of columns in recent months. But this time, I'll let someone with whom I seldom agree express them for me.

His name is Jonathan Chait, a senior editor at The New Republic. Here's what he wrote in that magazine:

"Even though it is in the public record, McCain's voting behavior during Bush's first term is almost never mentioned in the press anymore. Yet McCain's secret history is simply astonishing. It is no exaggeration to say that, during this crucial period, McCain was the most effective advocate of the Democratic agenda in Washington.

When you get a chance check out the sign up dates for those that were piling on here. There is no surprise.

Courtesy reply:

I have noticed that when I post some comments concerning anything to do with my opinions about racism from the left I do get quite a number of flames shot my way from posters who's sign on dates are fairly new.

However, be aware that many trolls with old sign up dates from wars past have been lying in the weeds waiting for their opportunity and I see them coming out to fight for this dangerous man.

I don't believe anything McCain says. Not one single thing. He's earned that. I consider him as big or possibly bigger threat than either Obama or Hillary. At least they are in the opposition party. McCain will carry out his destructive policies as a Republican. They are ideological enemies but not nuts. McCain is both.

McCain's record.

Politics is holding your nose and voting for the least of the worst.

No, American politics can only work properly when the citizen votes his conscience. That is our duty.

Since you are only a member since 2007 I find it ironic that you feel free to speak for other patriotic freepers.

I will stand with Grunthor any day.

Yes--you're probably right. Before the past year, there was probably not a bad word said about McCain. He was the true model of conservatism and a hero on this conservative forum.

To now have all of these people on FR, expressing their concerns about his ascendancy is a sure sign that they must be some sort of troll. In fact, anyone who doesn't defend McCain and praise all of his programs, must be an Obama plant!

In fact, you probably couldn't find a single thread on FR in prior years that did anything but praise him!

Oh.... err.... wait a minute.

No, American politics can only work properly when the citizen votes his conscience. That is our duty.

In these times as a conservative you vote for what is best for your country. That is your duty. Voting to insure an Obama win and justifying it as voting your conscience is a disingenuous rationalization.

Free Republic Opinion Poll:
Would you be for or against McCain?
Member Opinion
against 92.4% 2,989
for 7.6% 247

Hmmmm, I notice this poll has been scrubbed from the FR server. Nevertheless, it was a real FR poll taken about nine months ago. I guess over 92% of FR were DU trolls then.

Yes... McCain has *always* really been loved here at FR, LOVED I tell ya!

Those polls were RIGGED by deeply imbedded PLANTS for Obama!

It’s obvious—Saul Alinsky planned it all!

Cut the Bull.

I have stated that Fred was my first choice. McCain has always been a POS. I know that even more than you.

I also know that conservatives are weak and tend to cut their noses off to spite their face.

Please tell me how an Obama Presidency would be better for this country than a McCain.

They will be the only two candidates in the next election.

Face reality.

There was another poll that asked if he were the nominee how would you vote and it had a very different result. Do you have that one?

As I said Obama is a dangerous person to be intrusting as POTUS.

And so is McCain. He is a traitorous bastard, and no comfort comes in voting for him over anyone.

With McCain's experience, the ties he has made and an R on his chest he will be far more effective at implementing his agenda than Obama OR Hillary would. And it's entirely a destructive agenda. Almost identical to Obama's and Hillary's. That's how.

McCain-Feingold is a big mark against him plus he only has a C+ rating with the National Rifle Association. The Global Warming is just total BS. On the positive side after McCain’s lack of support for the Bush Tax cuts he did vote for it and has pledged to make them permanent.

Citizens Against Government Waste 2008 Congressional Pig Book Member List

Clinton 296.2 million dollars in pork

Obama 97.4 million dollars in pork

McCain 0.0 NONE

McCain’s lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union is 83. He has been ranked favorably by other conservative organizations: National Federation of Independent Business 100 percent; Concerned Women for America 100 percent; Family Research Council 100 percent; National Tax Limitation Committee 94 percent; Citizens Against Government Waste 91 percent and the National Taxpayers Union 88 percent.

Barack Hussein Obama, says of his nominees, “We need somebody who’s got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it’s like to be a young teenage mom, the empathy to understand what it’s like to be poor or African-American or gay or disabled or old and that’s the criteria by which I’ll be selecting my judges.”

John McCain says of his nominees, “The duties and boundaries of the Constitution are not just a set of helpful suggestions. They are not just guidelines to be observed when it’s convenient and loosely interpreted when it isn’t. In federal and state courts there are still men and women who understand the proper role of our judiciary and I intend to find them and promote them. My nominees will understand that there are clear limits to the scope of judicial power.”

I don’t know where any of the polls are now. Were they removed with the format changes? The poll you’re talking about was very recent since McCain became the only Pubbie left. It doesn’t change the fact that he polled 92% NO WAY before or that there have been virtually dozens of threads since FR’s inception exposing McCain’s liberal agenda and perfidy towards the GOP.

Cut the Bull.

After you. You're the one that started blathering about plants.

Please tell me how an Obama Presidency would be better for this country than a McCain.

The race is already lost. The country will move left, no matter who gets elected. The question now is who will able to move it to the left faster. I contend that candidate is John McCain. See here and here if you actually care about any opinions other than your own. IMO, the best we can hope for is pure GRIDLOCK.
