First, let me say that I am not giving up yet on Terri Schiavo.
However, if it turns out that she (unfortunately) dies, I want to put out a couple of theories about the fallout of this case. I welcome your comments.
My first theory is that those in Congress who voted against the legislation passed last Sunday will be made to "pay at the ballot box" for their vote (the ones who are up for re-election in 2006).
The vitriol that will undoubtedly arise from Terri's death, if properly focused, could give the GOP even larger majorities in the House and (perhaps) a "filibuster-proof" majority in the Senate.
Then, we can pressure our elected representatives to put Constitutional Originalists on Federal benches to hopefully prevent a replay of this kind of case in the future. Or atleast limit them.
My other theory kind of ties into this. Is it possible that God has brought Jeb Bush and Terri Schiavo "to the Kingdom for such a time as this"????
As much as it breaks my heart, is it perhaps God's will to actually take Terri home in order to effect change for the good of others in the future????
Again, I welcome your comments. I bring these theories to you because I feel at home among Freepers.
God bless.
Here is my take on the after effects.
First, the majority of americans agree with the decision. Therefore I don't think on the grand scale this will mean anything long term and there will not be any new legislation with regards to this case.
Second, most lawmakers who voted against the bill live in predominantly democratic areas and elections are over 1 year away.
The poisonous peons on DU are convincing themselves that Terri's death will cause conservatives to join them in hating Bush (both GW and Jeb!). I predict Bush will express heart-felt grief and sincere condolences which will endear him all-the-more to all those wishing her feeding tube was not removed.
The polls will show otherwise, but let's not forget the polls also predicted he would not be re-elected.
If Terri dies, Jeb doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell at the POTUS.
His half-assed effort already alienated those that were unlikely to vote for him in the first place, and for the rest of us that are witnessing this court-sanctioned murder, he is seen as weak for not going the distance.
Sadly, most will roll over and go back to sleep. As more of these happen they will become numb to them and just roll with it.
One day, it will be them facing this. Then, and only then, will they open their eyes and realize how wrong they were today.
as far as God taking Terri home, that's incorrect. This is nothing more than man sending her off to a horrific death. God has nothing to do with it.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose. Romans 8:28.
It is my hope that ALL religious ppl will desert the DEMOCRATIC party in droves.. All good ppl wil remember this travasty for a LONG time. I hope the Churches take a stand on this and proclaim to the masses what these ppl did to an innocent defensless lady and her good family. A good indicator was the House vote. This sickened, at least, half of the representatives. This will NOT go away. So laugh away DU'ers. Laugh away..
You believe the skewed polls now? All of sudden ABC polling has found legitimacy?
The house vote was for show. There won't be droves leaving the democratic party....when has that ever happened. Take a look at the polls. Around 25% of republicans agree with the ruling. and on the freeper poll 15.7% of freepers agree with the ruling. Are you afraid of all these republicans leaving the party? That has never happened either.
Why are polls aways skewed when you don't agree with them?
Why would they be right now after all of the election special-sauce they were using? Why are they right when you agree with them?
Most people in a permenant vegetative state for 15 years would not want live. Do I have to state the obvious?
That poll gave Kerry a very slight lead over Bush. BTW, many also gave Bush the lead by a slight lead. 63% isn't slight.
Channeling with the unconscious? Who are you, John Edwards?
How do you know this?
Have you been in a vegatative state for the past 10 to 15 years?
Possibly?
No. Channeling with commonsense.
Given your statement, why does Terri have to be included in the "Most" group?
BTW...does the MD in your name stand for Medical Doctor?
So you believe in killing the disabled?
