Hell, that's nothing. There is a growing number of people who engage in homosexual sex who actively seek to contract AIDS as way of expressing solidarity for those who have the hideous disease. You know, kinda the way some people will shave their heads as a sign of solidarity for a friend or loved one who has lost his or her hair due to chemotherapy treatments.
I know exactley what you are talking about. An article in rolling stone last year detailed it. Its a phenomenon thats seems to be limited mostly to San Francisco. When the article came out, several other publications jumped on the bandwagon to check the story out.
Long story short, the leadership of gay groups refuted it, and claimed the whole thing was poorley researched and was wrong, however, individual gays and doctors who were treating them, said it was true. The story essentially died after awhile.
