WASHINGTON -- As California scrambles to adjust to a budget shortfall that could be nearly $35 billion over the next 18 months, Gov. Gray Davis is hoping for some relief from Washington. But President Bush has yet to propose a penny of help, and his economic stimulus plan could deepen the red ink by eliminating federal taxes on dividends, thus making it more costly to sell bonds to pay for schools, roads and hospitals.

I'm a native born Californian. I came to the conclusion that the voting demographics will be forever in the hands of the socialists. The state has been filled with voters seeking handouts from the government. They outnumber those who are saddled with paying the taxes to support the government largesse. The only way out of the situation is to leave the state. I'm now a resident of Idaho. Yet another 9.3% bracket state taxpayer who has opted to shed the millstone of California socialism.
The two issues the were most influential in my decision to leave were the anti-gun laws and the horrid traffic. The rising electric rates and small business failures were next in line.

"he's awlreddy did it!"And another thing...
We need more STOCKHOLDERS... Not more STAKEHOLDERS!!!
Liberals depend on "Stakeholders!" Conservatives depend on "Stockholders!"
Besides, most government dependent "Stakeholders," are nothing but "Claim Jumpers!"

Liberals depend on "Stakeholders!" Conservatives depend on "Stockholders!" In case you hadn't noticed, they're increasingly both. What concerns me is what they might do with that stake.

"The federal government just announced that this year's budget deficit is going to be $200 billion," Doolittle said. "We're not in a position to be giving aid to California. California is one-seventh of the national economy and, for the most part, it is going to have to stand on its own."As usual, my congressman says what he means and means what he says, 100%! I've noticed he's buckled on you all paying for my prescriptions in a few more years when I reach Medicare eligibility. I wunder why???
Could it be SATAN? (or just politics as usual?)
