Please addicts, reply to my arguments,

They cannot face the potential dangers. If they do they have to face the fact they may be abuisve to their children when forcing them to breathe their smoke or in the very least playing russian roulette with their health.

Instead of honoring the children and giving them a clean environment they rationalize away the potential dangers so they can selfishly indulge their addictions without the inconvience of leaving the room and smoking outdoors or in a closed room away from the children.

Oh! Give it a rest!

I know this is off the subject, but this smoldering thread needs a little more gasoline thrown on it.

Most adults have little interest in "honoring" (I can't believe you said that) your children or their interests.

In fact, a lot of adults have little interest in any child's interests.

And I speak with certainty when I say that I have NO interest in any child's interests.

You won't see me anywhere where children are welcome.

Excellent point, I had a few minutes and had to check in to see what our thin skinned smoking brothers and sisters were up to again. I see since I was gone a while, I've been called liberal, liar, scum, and quite a few other names because addicts can't admit they are addicts. The debate is fun as always, bu it's hard to enjoy when you've seen the results of long term smoking on people you love, like my dad. An old war vet, and great man that I watched in his last days struggle for his next breath, and had to have a fan blowing in his face so he could feel the air and at least feel he was getting some of it processed by his lungs. He died in his sixties. He told me smoking caused his sickness, I believe him.

And once again minnie comes through, showing the way to civil discourse! "abusive to children," "forcing them to breathe their smoke," "playing Russian roulette with their health," and throwing in "rationalize," "selfishly indulge" and "addictions" for good measure. Wonder why he didn't trot out the "d" word? Saving it for later, no doubt.

Prof. Knox from the University of Birmingham concluded, "Childhood cancers are strongly determined by prenatal or early postnatal exposures to oil based combustion gases, especially from engine exhausts. 1,3 butadiene, a known carcinogen, may be directly causal."
