More tripe from the peanut gallery. Bet you didn't know that eight of the ten oldest people in the world were smokers, did ya? Lots of us stubborn old smokers will undoubtedly outlive you.
Pure unadulterated posturing.
Based on a lifetime of familiarity and observation of government employees (over 30 years), and 4 years within the belly of the beast, you would blanch at the abuses present, independent of the smoking issue.
My safe guess is that there are 10 times that number who are on the city payroll and never show up and actually work!.
Smoking, however, is the current trendy target of choice for the controllers, the hypochondriacs, the neurotic and the poor in spirit.
You're right, I should have said, "But with Bloominidiot pushing, I think the envelope for smoking city employees just tore.
Just to set the record straight, I have never lickked a dirty ashtray. Cleaned up a few from messy guests before my parents finally had the nerve to make their house a "no-smoking" zone.
Well said, Gabz! Well said.
What makes you so sure? Last time I looked, the time machine hadn't yet been invented.
I can, however, tell you that Max is better educated than you are and on that basis, regardless of whether or not he smokes, he will - on average - outlive you.
How do I know about your education? Well, it's one thing to mispell words in a post. It's an entirely different thing to mispell your FReeper name - "SUCKELS" should be "SUCKLES" and "USAS" should be "USA'S".
In a hurry to register? "Wisely and slow; they stumble that run fast."
And, by the way, "TEAT" rather than "BREAST" would have given you room for the apostrophe.
PS. This medical evidence you speak of....where is it? Cite at least one study. There was "evidence" that smoking caused ulcers, until they discovered helicobacter pylori. There was "evidence" that smoking caused cervical cancer, until they discovered HPV.
As Max said, above, there is irrefutable evidence that 8 of the 10 oldest lived humans were smokers.
On the other hand Jim Fixx, widely regarded as the father of the modern jogging craze, dropped dead at 52.
There is medical evidence that smokers live far shorter lives on average than nonsmokers.
Tell that to the Japanese - male smokers' life expectancy: 76.5 years (2nd highest in the World); % of Japanese males who smoke: 59%. (By the way, this is not "medical" evidence, but "statistical" evidence.)
What is my point? Your supercilious certainty that I will die young and you will live to a ripe old age because you do not smoke is unproven, unfounded and untrue.
