Thank you for the beautiful flowers. They are appreciated, each and every day, even if I don't always get to say it...

Thank you for your Navy and Coast Guard service, your faithful support of the military, and your faithful support of Snow Bunny and the USO Canteen.

Have a great day at work, I hope to see you very soon! ((((((((HUGS)))))))) GG

Ladies, the thread is gorgeous (literally and figuratively) today. I'm sure it will get super-lurked by plenty of our active duty friends. And probably be one of the most bookmarked Canteens on record!!!!!

I wish I had a photo of my granddad's plane handy. The pin up was of my grandmother (fully clothed ;-) and it was as beautiful of any of these girls on the thread. She was a knockout!!!!!!

Before they married, she lived in Miami and worked for Pan Am. One night she had been at a party with friends and some of the soldiers who were due to ship out (many heading to North Africa flew out of Miami because of the German submarine activity suspected farther north in the Atlantic). One young man got separated from his buddies during the course of the evening, and had no idea where he was supposed to be staying. My grandmother was kind hearted and took pity on him. She was living at a boardinghouse run by an elderly widow and she agreed to let him come back to her place to sleep in the screened porch until morning when he would be on his way.

As it was Miami and rather warm, the young soldier made the best of the situation and went to sleep on the porch. The next morning, the landlady came to my grandmother with a look of concern on her face--"Do you have any idea why there is a naked young man sleeping on my porch?" It was totally innocent, of course, but it took her a while to live that one down!!! LOL! She has such wonderful memories, I love to hear them.

Have a great day, Friends! Love to you all, and of course to the troops! GG
