This is the cry of every fool who blindly supports a politician who lacks integrity and is betraying him.
Thanks for correcting that 11th grade level error in the original post.
The quote you can't understand refers to the reflex excuses folks make when someone they admire is demonstrated to be unable to do the things he or she promised to do.
Of course, but what does it have to do with anything I posted? I don't admire any politician and I don't expect them to fulfill all or even most of their promises. RLK statement, on the other hand, seems to apply perfectly to himself.
RLK's statement is perfectly understandable.
Yes, but it's irrelevant or non sequitur, whichever you prefer.
The language level used is appropriate to an 11th grade level of English, or at least an 11th grade level of 30 years ago.
Pedantic BS similar to RLK's "any fool..." tripe. You two belong together.

To think and write like a functioning adult is dismissed as pedantic BS by you and others around here.

Here's some more "pedantic BS" that you will probably find difficult to read and even more difficult to understand. Like most writings of worth, the entire document can't be reduced to a ".... For Dummies" version, so it's pretty much gone out of fashion in the USA as folks have become more and more incapable of precise thought and articulate diction:
"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient Causes; and accordingly all Experience hath shewn, that Mankind are more disposed to suffer, while Evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the Forms to which they are accustomed."
