Simon was supposed to call in about 07:20 but actually called in at 07:30. This was the first Monday morning, but he announced he would be calling in every Monday at the same time.
Did you hear him this am? How was the interview?
Yes I heard him this morning. The first call he took must have been a Davis supporter because the caller said something like "give me a reason to support you after..." and then went on to give out false info about failing to reveal the tax returns, the IRS investigation, and of course the pay phone debacle. Simon had to refute these & handled himself well in doing so. He then got a chance to get his message out regarding his talking about matters that resonate w/ Californians.
Another caller asked when/if he would get out some more TV ads & why he isn't more aggressive w/ Davis. Simon said more ads were coming.
The hosts also talked with him about the LA Times article over the weekend ( Simon Describes his Anchor). This article is about Simon's faith & the fact that he prays quite a bit.
Simon did say the campaign was in good shape. He said Bush would be coming. He also said that Cheney's visit to CA had a pre-determined schedule & no conclusions should be drawn from the fact the two did not meet, or that Cheney did not mention him. Overall it was pretty short, but good.
He might be on in Southern California tomorrow, 8/14/02, during the Roger Hedgecock Show, KOGO 600 AM, broadcast from San Diego.
The entire show is 3-6PM, but Roger did not say when or how long Bill Simon will call into the show.
