I've received an email from a friend who works on Bill Simon's Governor campaign indicating that a protest of Gray Davis will take place today!

We need to FREEP this!

WHAT: FREEP/PROTEST GRAY DAVIS

WHERE: IN FRONT OF CONVENTION CENTER - Downtown Sacramento

WHEN: Arrive Between 1:40 and 1:45 PM - until about 2:45 PM

HOW: Bring Signs Protest Davis + Environment (Dioxin Dumping, Offshore Oil Drilling), Davis + Energy Crisis and Davis + Budget Crisis.

Hope that a lot of people show up!!!

"There" was actually the Sheraton. Not the Convention Center. The Convention Center is right next to the Sheraton. The first time I was invited to go the Governor's security detail was all freaked out about us. It was A LOT of fun!!!

Why does your friend prefer Davis? As far as I can tell they're both Democrats. It's a tossup who's more corrupt, disingenuous and incompetent.

At least Davis can be bought. That's how Big Oil has survived here. They paid him off to keep drilling.

Meanwhile, Simon rolled thru my county and announced that he would shut down all oil drilling in California... ALL.... if he's elected. (Yeah, that's the ticket. Stopping 20% of domestic oil production will sure put U.S. on the road to energy independence in the wake of 911.)

.. Earlier he told a Hispanic crowd in L.A. that he favors special programs for illegal aliens. Lotsa expen$ive programs. It was total Simon "pandermania."

I'm getting misty for Riordan.

It took 2 horses and 8 or 9 cops to keep an eye on us! They did come in handy though when the union goons spilled out of the Convention Center and tried to shout us down. Sacramento's finest coralled the thugs back so we could continue marching by.

Impeach98's chanting was actually making the horses skittish.

Dump Davis Freep with new friends from the Simon Campaign

An enthusiastic group of young Republicans and Simon Supporters went face to face with union delegates at the Sacramento Convention Center today. Fellow Freepers Farmfriend, ElkGroveDan and Comwatch lent support with inspiring words for Davis supporters. If I missed someone, my apologies. We passed out invitations to our FreepMeet in two weeks to this great group of vocal conservatives. A candidate for the 9th District joined the group (pictured right - Story to follow).

Sac PD, headed by our own Sector 3 supervisor Sgt. Nick Yaranon (far right) was on hand to keep an eye on things. Checking in with the troops paid off when a rather large and somewhat confrontational group of union critters tried to break our picket line with shouts of "We Want Davis"! While shouting back, "You Can Have Him", Nick, a couple beat guys and a mounted unit put themselves between us and the unhappy campers. Thanks SAC PD... we know you're bipartisan on the job but we also know how most of you feel about Davis. I'm sorry my digital camera missed the group shot and the scene I just described. But hats off to a terrific bunch of Simon buffs and Freepers who answered the Call to Duty on such short notice.  More later at The Patriot Defenders Network
