[history]
He has sought to minimize his role in the phone deal that led to a $78 million judgment against his family's company.
In the end, Bill Simon is left scrambling to answer questions about fraud committed by his family's investment firm against a convicted drug smuggler in a fiasco of epic proportions.

Thanks, I was not too keen on going on vacation , but alas, I shall leave the driving to Princess Cruise Lines. We sail in & out of San Franciso so that should make for quite a view.
The KSFO 560 Alaska cruise is the week before us so I hope they have the ship cleaned up by then! Alaska is always a good trip.
(HOW AM I GONNA FREEP AT SEA?) I know they have internet but it ain't too cheap.
I may slap a DUMP Davi$ and Bill Simon for Governor sicker on my cabin door. That should be good for lots of free drinks! :-) And You're Right, Things are looking better! Bush will visit California for Simon. Let the media howl like mad dogs. We're used to it.

sicker = sticker .. Freudian slip, I am subject to motion discomfort.

Hardly a smoking gun. I wonder how much ol' grayout paid for the headline?

Hindelang help(ed) to devise and run ...a massive offshore operation that smuggled about 2 million pounds of marijuana into the United States Arrested in 1981, Hindelang agreed to forfeit $640,000 he had made by drug smuggling
Years later, investigators uncovered evidence that Hindelang had retained a small fortune in drug money earned prior to his arrest.
He ultimately agreed to return $50 million to the government in 1998
Court documents question whether ill-gotten gains provided seed money for Pacific Coin
A Los Angeles jury last week...order(ed) the Simon firms to pay more than $78 million in punitive and compensatory damages
Justice works in mysterious ways... :)

I agree! Simon was not a party to the lawsuit, and he was not even called as a witness. But ... the perception of his being involved has been the sole property of the Dufus regime.
I'm hoping Simon will get on TV and start refuting that SOON, before it takes hold with the public. I see that stinking ad all the time.
I have received an email from Simon stating his NON-involvment. I believe him. But ... of course the media is not going to tell the public of Simon's statement.

Drool!!

Hindelang will probably end up spending the rest of his life in a California jail if Simon does win. The pay phone business is an all cash business, as well being the primary contact method for retail level illegal drug sales. He could have used it to find out who the drug dealers are as well as wash lots of cash.

Be sure and read about Mr. Paul Edward Hindelang prior exploit's!
COPS GET $25 MILLION IN SEIZED DRUG CASH WINDFALL FOR MONROE SHERIFF (FLORIDA )
Monroe's big payday comes from the $50 million surrendered in 1997 by ex-smuggler Paul Edward Hindelang, formerly of Fort Lauderdale and Miami, who has subsequently become a legitimate millionaire pay-telephone entrepreneur.
-----------------------------------------
Hindelang helped pioneer the so-called "mother ship" marijuana smuggling technique that revolutionized the illicit trade that dominated South Florida's underground economy in the mid-to-late 1970s. A "mother ship" freighter carrying up to 180,000 pounds of marijuana would be unloaded at sea by a fleet of 50-foot fishing vessels, which would relay the drugs to smaller craft that blended in with recreational boaters for the trip ashore.
----------------------------------
The harder part for Hindelang was making a clean breast of the past he had so successfully concealed from his teenaged children, neighbors in the exclusive enclave he developed in Santa Barbara and business partners. The board of directors at Pacific Coin, the company Hindelang founded with a handful of pay phones in some of Southern California's grittiest communities, fired their CEO in December 1998, shortly after the forfeiture case became public in South Florida.

Man does the bad news ever stop coming in on this Simon campaign? Did everyone see the hit piece the L.A. Times did on traditional Republican supporters backing Davis this time around? I think Rollins and Nofzinger have really screwed the proverbial pooch on this one.

Nature is never boring up there... LOL. Last time we saw eagles , small icebergs, seals, and salmon .. not to mention the glaciers are cool .. literally.
Cruising is a great way to take the family on the road without having to drive or fly there... If you can afford it.

You know what you get when you put a bunch of political experts in a room together?
A Lot of Hot Air.
I'm juggling Nascar at Indy and maintaining marital bliss, no easy feat! Have a good one.

I don't like the L.A Slimes much but I had to concede once in awhile their in house liberals like Steven Lopez, gets it right. What boob would invest in a pay phone company in 1998 for heaven's sakes? Everyone's using cell phones and it says a lot about Bill Simon's business acumen he invested in a dying segment of the telecommunications market and winded up getting spanked for it with a huge fraud lawsuit. What is particularly telling is he proceeded to invest in pay phones even thought his wife thought it was passe. I mean everyone is human and makes mistakes but c'mon if you're married save yourself the grief and let your wife be the brains of your house's finances. You'll be a lot happier down the road. Ah, how Simon now wishes he'd listened to Cindy back then!
