The only possibly good thing about the whole situation is that it happened in Texas, and not California.

Unfortunately my friend, this happened in southern New Mexico, not Texas. I'm concerned that this sicko will get maybe a couple of years, and then be released right back into society.

Well, I know of a case in either Albuquerque or S. F. (can't recall which) where a 17-year old baby-killer was sentenced, as a juvenile, to probation. The claim was, as the mother's boyfriend, "he was put into a situation he wasn't mature enough to deal with" because he often baby-sat for the child.
I began baby-sitting at age 12.
