Ping . The Mercury News placed this lower left column front page.
Davi$ signing the emissions bill got most of the rear page.
They have a picture there with Davi$,and in the background, the Golden Gate spires sticking out of the fog.
They apparently did a signing in LA earlier in the day. How sharing of Davi$!

Brilliant escape for Simon. The press and Davis' presstitutes were all over him and turning the focus of the election on Simon. I don't think they will be able to continue now. Simon paid more than ll million in taxes, leave it to Gray Davis to say that was too little. While the press will try to continue and make an issue out of simon's taxes, it won't stick and they will start talking more about the lack of a budget.

If Bill Simon expected caving in on financial privacy would win him the gratitude of the media he was solely mistaken. He should have stuck to his original position no matter how costly for given them an inch, they'll take your whole body parts. And naturlich instead of turning on GrayDown, they're turning on Simon's tax shelters with a vengeance. They'll keep on hounding Simon til the end of the campaign on the assumption he's dirty - and at the same time they'll give GrayDown's very questionable financial ethics a pass. I'm sure what Simon did yesterday must have come after a great deal of pressure from Gerry Parsky. Yup, sounds like a RINO lapdog manuever and Simon was sucked right into it. If Simon has learned one thing, its that the media is NOT a conservative's friend.
