Contact Gov. Davis at 1-800-988-2588 or email him at governor@governor.ca.gov to let him know this is bad tax policy plain and simple.

Rush also stated that 48% of the vehicles on CA roads are SUV's, looks like Davis will put the final nail in his own coffin.

The rats don't realize that we drive SUV's to protect - gasp - THE CHILDREN (tm). This is going to bite them Big Time if it ever comes to pass. From their own victim book, too.

Stating that the bill creates the perfect balance between driver choice and responsible environmental policy, Davis indicated his intention to sign the bill. Now Californians have the "choice" to drive a mini van, truck or SUV and pay added taxes or not. That's a choice to Gov. Howdy Doody. Hopefully Californians will take advantage of a real choice come election day.

The last nail in the coffin for the Dimwit Grayskies Davis.
Just out of curiousity could someone explain to me how they are going to collect a tax on every mile driven in a truck or SUV??? More jobs for the drive police??? ROFLMAO

The bill will affix a tax of 2 cents for every mile driven in an SUV, MiniVan or truck, 50 extra cents per gallon of gasoline, and $3500 on all SUV, Minivan, or truck purchases.
This sounds totally bogus to me.
How are they going to tax mileage? Random odometer checks with bills handed out on the spot?
Who is going to determine, at the pump, what type of vehicle the gasoline is being pumped into?
How will gas pumps be modified to handle varying price scales for the same type of gasoline?
Im not buying any of this.

Rush also stated that 48% of the vehicles on CA roads are SUV's I understand why the law would have an evil aspect, but if it gets rid of most of the SUV's, then it can't be all that bad... The road is overrun with them, not to mention their brainless, dangerous drivers. At least CA roads are built to handle them. CT roads are not.

DAVIS SIGNALS PLAN TO SIGN POLITICAL SUICIDE NOTE
To: MattGarrett
Hell, lets send him emails that as conservatives, we want him to sign this bill and po every SUV driver in Kalifornia.
Signing that bill is a winner for Simon and a big loser for Davis.
Rats hate SUV's as part of their liberal dogma. His biggest nest of Rats in the San Francisco and LA areas hate SUVs, so this vote will appeal to them. Of course they are in his pocket anyway.
He could lose hundreds of thousands of voters who drive SUV's if he signs this bill. Which I hope that he does!
Then we can all put on bumper stickers, SAVE YOUR SUV - DUMP DAVIS!
If he doesn't sign it, he will lose the votes of the watermelons: (Dump Gray/Vote Green link)

Davis also announced his intention to start molesting children at local parks in an attempt to improve his poll numbers.

Guess I won't be taking any more vacations in California. Not even in my little 30+ MPG SUV. Not with policies like that in effect. (And not to mention the "agricultural" inspection stations at every big entry into the state.)

I believe the bill strickly prohibits the above actions but is expected to result in "mileage quotas" for cars sold in CA.

It's time for SUV owners in California to do a mass SUV demonstration around the Governor's mansion, just like the farmers did on tractors and the truck drivers did in their semis in Washington D.C. to protest the high gasoline prices.

The fact is that this bill doesn't specify how these reductions in greenhouse gasses are supposed to occur. CARB won't have the authority to impose these taxes or limit the size of vehicles.
What they will have is the authority to draft regulations which might include those changes, but those would have to be approved by the state legislature before they could take effect.
This is stupid liberal feel-good legislation, much like the requirement that 10% of all new vehicles sold in California are supposed to be electric. I don't think they've met that mandate, and they won't meet this one, either.

These points have been deleted from the bill that is now before the governor. I agree that it is a bogus bill, but we don't have to lie about the facts now to win our points. Or do we?

Oh Goody. I will start my PC Jugo modification business.
1. Buy up all of the old Jugos, Corollas, Fiestas etc. that I can find.
2. Convert them to a rolling fuel tank complete with tow bar, no engine required.
3. Tow them to tha gas station, fill them with gas (100 to 150 galons) and tow them home.
Hooray, no criminal SUV gas tax.
