It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

"We suspect there are many, many more," said RNC spokesman Kevin Sheridan.

This gets my vote as understatement of the year.

200? Heck they out to check out Orange County, CA...they could find 200 per precinct... and lets not forget my beloved Los Angeles the mother of all voter fraud cities where you yes you and even you can get a Social Security card, drivers license, an AMEX card and register to vote in one afternoon...no fuss no muss...

This article is a hack rewrite of a Newsday article, which said the following:

Sheridan said he did not have information on the party affiliation of those voting in two different states.
"We're not trying to turn this into a partisan issue," he said. "This was a natural outgrowth of our effort to update our voter files."

Does Newsmax even care any more? I guess not.

Here's how....

Republicans: How do you account for this fraud?

Democrats: We didn't do anything wrong.

Republicans: Well, that's good enough for us! Please forgive me for even suggesting such a thing.

"The Republicans have spent so much time this year trying to distract from the real issue, which is election reform."

When Democrats got caught taking millions from Communist China, their reply was similar. Republicans didn't want to deal with the real issue: Campaign Finance Reform.

This is like Ted Kennedy saying the real issue concerning Chappadiquick was a lack of guard rails on bridges.

the real issue
Oh. Well . . . sorry I bothered you. For a moment there I was forgetting that only a Democrat can stipulate what "the real issue" is.

Damn Republicans. How DARE they bring attention to a non-issue such as Democrat voter fraud?

I can tell you exactly how it will play out. The LEFT WING (New York Times) DOMINANT media will ignore it. Of course if it was a Republican it would be spread across the HEADLINES of the Times, which seems to be the ONLY news source that's EVER given any credibility by the rest of the media.

The Republicans (and Democrats) will conveniently overlook the millions of illegal Mexicans who'll begin warping our political process, uh, voting, as soon as Bush makes them instant subjects, er, citizens.

elections officials said today that more than 850 people are suspected of illegally voting in two states in the 2000 presidential election, including 402 in both New York and Florida.

How do we know that they were all Democrats? Moreover, this is individual fraud, rather than concerted party fraud. I grant you, that the bulk were probably Dems, but this is rather thin beer. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be stamped out, but it does mean that to get into a wad over it demonstrates a distinct lack of proportion.
