Good thing for Simon to pick up on -- unless more of California is lost that I know about!

more of California is lost

I just heard on the radio what Davis did today: He was at a groundbreaking ceremony for the new William Jefferson Clinton elementary school in Compton (Los Angeles area).
The poor children! I would hate to attend a school with that name.

This goes along with Davis' "accomplishments" of spending much more money on schools and for helping his friends, but failing to generate any real improvements in education.

Poor kids. Think of all the unsavory thoughts connected with the name of x42. If I had been a parent there I would have protested LOUDLY!

For those of you outside of Southern California, the City of Compton is the laughing stock of the area. The Mayor and City Council feud constantly. The schools are rotten. The school administration was so back the Education department had to step in, depose the whole lot, and take over. The recently elected mayor was tossed out by a local judge, who put the old mayor in ... but that got over-turned. Compton is a mess. I don't even have to tell you about the demographics. You can just guess who is running the place - an' I don'a mean da Kingfish!

Well it was one of these three reasons

1 No money in it for him

2 Still in outerspace looking for the earth

3 Could not tear himself away from the mirror

I've always believed it to be "One nation under God" with no comma. It's a complete thought that can't be split.

God Save America (Please)

Oh, Johnny O, You are precisely correct. The official version, as recorded in the Congressional Record is:

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

When I read several of news accounts of the courts actions, I noted that a couple of the news services incorrectly placed a comma after "one nation'. Here is one example . That seemed odd at the time but when I did the graphic I liked the way it read with the comma. Therefore I applied the 'Artistic License' rule using the comma to emphasize the subject of the incomplete passage, making it a declaration of defiance of the outrageous ruling.
