[history]
Sacramento -- In a pair of TV ads debuting today, GOP businessman Bill Simon lampoons Gov. Gray Davis as the denizen of a dusty office jammed with campaign cash, visited by a parade of dollar-laden constituents.
The new 30-second spots use parody to stick in the minds of voters while skewering Davis -- the Democratic incumbent who has raised more than $30 million for his re-election campaign -- on the fund-raising issue, where Republicans believe he is most vulnerable.

"I'm going to knock Gray Davis' and (Davis adviser) Garry South's teeth out with their own record," Rollins said. "This is going to be a donnybrook." Lay in the beer and popcorn. This might be fun to watch.
Californians, let us know if you think these ads are effective.

Caught another Simon ad yesterday...quite short..snappy and effective....Simon talked about greyouts lack of leadership in CA.
Simon held eye contact the whole time... a distinct contrast to shifty eyed dems...

Methinks Russo & Co. may be on to something here. After weeks of fundraising stories die down a little, run these. GoSimonGo...

I really like this idea - have a little fun with Davis instead of running the typical attack ads which are best only as a last-ditch insomnia cure.
I can't wait to see these ads on the Simon campaign web page - I hope they will appear soon :-).
And I don't think this reshuffling is chaos in the campaign. After all, the campaign is doing extremely well by any measure. No; this campaign has been run like a venture capitalist would, which should be no surprise to anyone knowing about Simon's career.
So, how does a venture capitalist run a campaign? Well, he starts with his core of people who thought up the idea. If preliminary work shows they have a reasonable shot at success, he brings in the big-gun CEO and managers. At this point, the campaign/venture costs a great deal more to operate, but now has the structure and professional talent needed to manage rapid growth.
I think this shows that Simon is satisfied that the campaign is a good investment, and it's time to throw more money in it - his and ours.

I'm watching them now, and I like them. But, the download is extremely slow (~10KB/sec now), for 4MB ads.

Davis' campaign immediately dismissed the ads as "a complete distortion" and a gimmick that voters will summarily reject. Funny. That's pretty much how I view Grayout himself.

"You can be as clever as you like, but if it's not true, people will see right through it," Salazar said. But, Mr. Salazar, what if it IS true????
Dump Davis!
