Sounds to me like if the PA doesn't play ball then the ball is in Israels court. And the PA don't want to play that game.

As usual - I didn't get to SEE the speech - but I will definitely see the replay sometime tonight!
My eyes and ears are the great reporters - and commentators - from Free Republic!
I love this President! Dear God - thank you for him!

No, it was for America and Israel. Can't you folks read between the lines at all?
To: rintense
The only way Bush would do that is if he's got sources of oil to counteract an Arab embargo.
Hmm... didn't I read in the Washington Times recently that there may be another coup in Venezuela? We know Bush is close with Vincente, and Mexico's got a fair amount of oil.
Then this energy deal with Russia... I have a hunch that the infrastructure may not be as far away from handling exports as you postulated earlier. I don't see how Bush would give what is just about an ultimatum unless he had enough oil to counter an embargo by OPEC.

Somebody tell me what Helen and Gregory said!
Brit Hume said it wouldn't please Israel entirely.

The finish to Bush's speech! Like the Bible says: I have set before you life and death...choose life.

Watch Bill Kristol on Bret's show CLAIM that unnamed WH sources gave him a heads-up of the speech's main points prior to Bush's delivery.

Notice how Reuters says that Bush wants frozen Pale assets released-but,neglects to print the rest of his statements-but,only to honest and trustworthy leaders. That gives Israel wide latitude to determine who deserves to receive those moneys-not Arafat and the terror orgs, like Reuters is implying.

Am I not prophetic??? I posted this earlier today:

There is more going here than we see. For example, when we liberated Afghanistan (still on-going), we eliminated the threat to the United States and her allies. When- and note I say when- we attack Iraq, we will also take out not only the threat to the US and her allies, but we'll also free the Iraqis subjected to Saddam's oppression for years. With the right influence from the US and allies, Iraq could potentially be the first true budding democracy in the Mideast, watched closely by us, naturally.
Palestine isn't any different. Eliminate the threat and let those who are left enjoy freedom. In the Palestinians case, since most of them support the terror attacks, many probably won't remain to enjoy a vision which they have dreamed.
The startegy seems to be very simple- eliminate the evil so that freedom and good can prevail. And with the always present threat that, 'yes, you too could be next', it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see many other Middle Eastern countries fall into line. There will be no place for groups like Hamas, Al-Qaida, etc to run if we put the right squeeze on. And the country we need to squeeze the most is Saudi Arabia.
Add to the mix the potential lessening of dependence on Middle Eastern oil, and you potentially make THEM the slaves to us. Again, the Russian infrastructure won't support massive exports for at least 4-5 years. But when we loosen the 'oil' rope around our necks, we give them more rope to hang themselves. They need us a heck of a lot more than we need them.
Of course, this will take a long time and will require patience. But I am highly optimistic that this will happen.

I watched and recorded the speech. It was the same old rhetoric. Either he believes in this utopian Pali state (if he does, he ought to be committed), or he's as duplicitous as his Arab friends. Bush is crafty alright. Who is like Bush? Who can make war with him?

Look back at the post and see that I was taking another poster to task for those comments. I do not agree with them.

I have laid before you today both life and death. Therefore, choose life.Guess what the QotD will be?

What Islamic state ever favored elections? Islam, especially the fundamentalists, aspires for the return of the caliphate - pan-islamic rule, not a democracy.
To: rintense
You are right about the headlines - they prepared everybody into thinking the whole theme would provisional pali state - and now that it was NOT that theme - they continue putting out their lies, lies, and more lies!!!!
The President's spokesmen MUST go out tonight and make clear what he said!
This speech - another one - is so fantastic - evidently - I simply see the calm, determined, George W Bush of last September. For such a time as this - this man has been given to be our President. How fortunate we are. God bless him!
To: Mo1
It definitely did not go out over Palestinian TV. Mighty democratic of them wasn't it? Says it all, to my mind.
To: Light Speed
I was impressed with his comments to the other Arab Countries - must though their own media condemn suicide bombing and other acts, denounce terrorist groups and dismantle them. He was especially strong toward Syria.
To: traditionalist
Perhaps I am mistaken, but I do remember him specifically mention 1967. Yes he did but said that both parties would have to work out a peace plan .. but ONLY after the PA decides if the want new leadership and peace
