[history]
Little more than a week after he became the subject of an advertising attack by Gov. Gray Davis, Republican challenger Bill Simon has responded with tough new ads, including one hitting the governor's fund raising.
Two new Simon campaign commercials are scheduled to begin today in the Bay Area -- with the ad lambasting the governor's fund-raising practices scheduled to air starting next week, KTVU Channel 2's "Ten O'Clock News" reported Wednesday night.

doing the people's work day and night. said the socialist. If he's doing our work for us why are we having to work longer to pay *his* taxes?
I'm surprised the SF Comical doesn't rip into Simon like they used to. I also notice on the Bay Area evening news they paint Davis in a negative light most every night. What's going on? Do the Democrats want Simon to win so they can blame the Golden State's bankruptcy on a Republican?

Davis . . . is from a wealthy Bay area family. I've been trying to think of the old money involved in politics. GW Bush
GHW Bush
JF Kennedy
Robert Kennedy
Ted Kennedy
Steve Forbes
Nelson Rockefeller
Jay Rockefeller
FD Roosevelt
I'm certain the list is much longer. I'm also pretty sure that the bottom line is that the richest and oldest money doesn't apply to conservative Republicans but to liberal Democrats.

"His daddy gave him this money," Davis said. That's good Goober, the soccer Moms will really sympathize with you using that immature whiney language. Keep that up.

"His daddy gave him this money," Davis said. Is there something immoral about inheriting money? I must have missed that lecture.

Thanks for the ping. I don't think Simon has a problem running against Davis.
The problem is that in the final strokes Simon will be running against the edicts made by the unions. Big trouble is the motor/voter crowd who won't, or can't, read or listen to a right POV. In the mean time it is sweet that all Davis can yap about is Simon's money (when Davis has raised so much more cash)or that phoney S & L scandle.

Simon can do both, even in the same ad which would probably be very effective. Expose Davis and then state what you stand for.

Hugh Hewitt has called Gray Davis a political vending machine. I think he said he was the first Coin Operated Governer.

Davis and his campaign seem obsessed with references to the eliminative process ("squat") and what it produces ("b.s.," horse manure, etc.).
Has anyone else noticed that?
