[history]
Little more than a week after he became the subject of an advertising attack by Gov. Gray Davis, Republican challenger Bill Simon has responded with tough new ads, including one hitting the governor's fund raising.
Two new Simon campaign commercials are scheduled to begin today in the Bay Area -- with the ad lambasting the governor's fund-raising practices scheduled to air starting next week, KTVU Channel 2's "Ten O'Clock News" reported Wednesday night.

Hugh Hewitt has called Gray Davis a political vending machine.
To: eureka!
Maybe he has had a sudden money infusion and wants to stake out a claim to the election early.

South made a big blunder on that 12 hour a day on Davis ... something I totally believe is true, considering how it's "pay-to-play" in his administration ... The Oracle thing, and there's more coming down the pike; the prison guard union, the plumbers union, shaking down the CTA for a million bucks ... all this is a major negative on Davis.
Conservatives and Republicans already dislike Davis and are loyal to Simon because Simon is a conservative, and is an appealing character.
This strategy is smart for the Simon campaign ... make Davis work in his own backyard to keep this voters in line. And, I'll bet Davis and South weren't expecting it. Davis is trying to run a campaign against Dan Lungren, and it just won't fly.
Go Simon!!!!!!!

Simon says, "California doesn't need more blame-game politics."
Amen to that ...
GO SIMON

Good points. Davis has been trying to solidify his base (not a good sign) and Simon is throwing a wrench in the works. Simon does need to advertise ideas though--people want a "can do" candidate--not just remind people of the current sleazeball in office. This will continue to be a very interesting race...

"His daddy gave him this money," Davis said. Typically snide Democrat remark.

Why is it that every other word in this report say's (ATTACK AD) I do not see any attacks in Simon's ad!!!
To: Gophack
Davis is sounding more and more like a loser all the time!
Almost "mean-spirited"...y'know? :-)

"His daddy gave him this money," Davis saidDavis needs to be careful here. IIRC, he is from a wealthy Bay area family.

"That's just more b.s.," Davis said. "Obviously, I don't spend the kind of time (fund raising) Bill Simon's talking about. . . . I've been on the job, doing the people's work day and night." It's really too bad that reporters ignore blood in the water when it's running out of a donkey. Just a little nudge and this reporter could have had Davis in a screaming, purple-faced fit. Talk about missing a story!
