GOV. Gray Davis has escaped the worst possible outcome of the Oracle software hearings. No indisputable evidence of corruption has emerged.
But he and his administration have been badly stained by their inability to offer a coherent explanation for the approval of a $123 million contract for database software, and by the lingering suspicion that political influence had much to do with it.

Dump Davis!
Businessweek has a piece on CALPERS titled "Can CALPERS Afford to Throw Stones?"
The pension fund is rife with potential conflicts of interest.
Burkle is mentioned and his picture is included.
Article is not aimed at Davis, but some of the facts that have come up here are mentioned.
Unfortunately, in LA this might only amount to about $4,000 worth of negative ad, since the LA Times has been rather light on their coverage of this & all of Davis' scandals.
True, but Hugh is preaching to the choir. It is the swing voters that need to be converted.
Do you have any idea what the average population of his SoCal listeners is compared to the LA Times circulation?
Also true as to preaching to the choir. But they will vote. As to Hugh's audience, I don't know the numbers. As to the LA Times, do bear in mind that while its readership is large (I believe a circulation of 1.2 million or so) but falling and by no means the only source of news for many.
Perhaps more importantly, what I also do know is that Grayout is detested by many in his own party and is, for an incumbent, in a world of hurt. His negatives are very bad for an incumbent and conventional wisdom has it that it is very difficult to reverse those numbers. Hence, the recent attack ads on Simon. Meanwhile, Simon is trying to educate Hispanics via Spanish media (and W and Giuliani will be back too) and otherwise letting Grayout get bad press, as I cannot think of a single article of recent that was good press. Keep the faith...
I would also like to see Condi Rice make an appearance or two in support of Simon.
I think his ads in Spanish are a good idea & can only help.
I also think Simon could get his message out for free buy calling in on Hugh's show or on KABC radio. I know Mr. KABC at night has asked him on 3 occasions for the Hour of Power, but Simon has not called in. Mr. KABC supported Davis last time, but now detests him & says he will voter for Simon. Im sure Simon could reach many who listen to this show who feel the same.
I heard him on Larry Elder's show a few weeks ago, but he needs to get his message out more often.
At the 'COLLECT' window
Man is that true!
Would need to post it!
Still sorting thru my incoming and doing morning chores!
