Is this a start? Karl Rove at an American Enterprise Institute Seminar, reported in the Chicago Tribune, said four million evangelicals stayed home in November 2000. They expected 19 million and got 15 million. And it was a rather lengthy thread, too, I might add.
If you decide to stay home, they will go elsewhere for the votes, and you might not like where they go. My advice, get in there, swing the elections his way, and build up some serious markers. Because if they find a way to win without you, you're going to be burnt toast politically.
Exactly.
We must win elections at all costs.
I say we appeal to the right-handed people of the US. Put the left-handers on notice that they can expect a 80% income tax to fund entitlements to all the right-handed people.
We must motivate the right-handers to vote for our candidate. They are a majority, after all.
They are going elsewhere anyway - to illegal aliens, for one. My vote is ALWAYS based on moral principles - nothing else. I could not care less what letter comes after the name. If there was a Democrat who was anti-abortion, anti-gay agenda, pro-small govt., pro-Constitution, I would vote for that candidate. Alas, no such animal exists. By the same token, this type of candidate is becoming increasingly rare in the Republican Party.
The other major issue for me is Bush's complete failure to clean up the federal agencies poisoned by Clinton. No one has been fired in the DOJ, FBI, etc., no scandals have been investigated to hold ANYONE accountable. Nothing of any real substance has been done to stop the murder of the unborn.
Moral principle is king. My next vote goes to the Constitution Party. I invite all to visit their website and read about what a candidate with REAL MORAL PRINCIPLES looks like! wwww.constitutionparty.com
Bush's chick***hit signing of the CFR bill steps on the GUN OWNERS. He has a mixed record on that issue.
Good
1. Told UN to screw themselves on small arms treaty.
2. Told courts 2nd is an individual right.
Bad
1. SIGNED CFR
2. Against armed pilots(buck stops on exec branch there).
Since I'm still pissed off at the unPatriot Act and CFR, I've decided that it's come down to gun shows and the AW ban. If he remembers why he won, I'll back him. If not, I don't know what I'll do.
Back to the base comment. I think too much is brought up on the presidential level. The president isn't the party. He's the most imposing figure, but he's not the party. Politics is local first. If we want out guys in there and not the country clubbers, than we have to get our guys elected.
In my state, our candidate for Governor, Lt Gov Dick Posthumus, has been to at least THREE MCRGO events, and also had a fundraiser with Ted Nugent which was a gun event as well. He needs our support and he'll get it.
In my county, every republican running has asked for our endorsement. Six running for an open seat. Another one is unopposed, and he's pro-2a as well. Our state senator is a pro-2a leader and won largely on that issue.
That's where our reps come from. The smaller ranks. That's how to beat the liberal republicans.
