I'm beginning to believe PKM is right. We can't get anything done here; these people don't WANT anything to do with Bush in office; they're still waiting for "one of their own" to get the office. They are NOT ever going to work with us; they've been against Bush from the very beginning; they are working against him every single minute.

With such a defeatist, unappeasable attitude, we might be better off just to let them have the "conservative" moniker and just be plain old Republicans, a word I happen to admire.

They way they are going, the word "conservative" is never going to mean anything except mean and nasty anyway.

I agree. These are the same people who complained early in 2000 that Bush was being "anointed" the GOP nominee (before he had to duke-it out in a real primary fight with McCain). These are probably the same people who maintain their registration in the Reform Party. They gravitate to FR because anywhere else in the wide world of American politics, they're irrelevant.

Speaking of admiring the name "Republican," these are the same folks who show up to bash Lincoln for his "trampling of states rights." And, in regard to being mean and nasty, consider the contrast of the most successful conservative politician and President of the 20th Century. Ronald Reagan won, in large part, because he put a smile on the face of conservatism (he was also a pragmatist when he needed to be). The complainers we see daily on FR who stridently define "conservative" and then eviscerate anyone who doesn't live up to their definition will never know anything of the success of a Ronald Reagan.

I take pride standing in the tradition Lincoln, Reagan, and George W. Bush.

Sad to say I am beginning to believe that more and more! I am tired of beating my head against a brick wall trying to drum up support for the 2002 elections when all a lot of folks want to do is bash Pres Bush and Republicans! I, too, am a proud Republican!

Hey Howlin! I am a Conservative Republican and I think President Bush is a great President...it is nice being able to look up to the leader of our country again...I don't what is wrong with these other people...other than they show their ignorance of our government by the questions they ask and the charges they make...it isn't President Bush's fault that we were attacked and that we are now at war and that tough new laws had to be passed to protect us and it isn't President Bush's fault that we now have a Democrat Congress that obstructs all bills that President Bush is trying to get passed...so, who are these arm chair control freaks...because they are not Conservative Repubs.!

You think this is a fair statement?

To fellow Conservatives who voted for Dubya and wrung their hands all throughout the Florida fiasco. You think this is a fair assessment?

Works for me. I always stressed that there was a difference between Republicans and Conservatives. That difference being principle. Besides, if Jeffords can wear a "R" behind his name then I guess anyone is welcome.

The democrats say the same thing every time we tell the truth or dare to criticize them or one of their half wit policies.

Probably just a coincidence.

You and your ilk are remarkably narrow-minded. The "Bush bashers", as you call them, are generally very pleased with Bush. Their criticism is well founded, however.
