A southern colloquialism I guess. Yes smoke and mirrors and horse and pony show combined. I don't like the decisions General Ashcroft has made in 'protection of freedom'. I didn't realize we were at war. I don't remember Congress passing THAT bill. But I guess that doesn't matter anymore either. All the power is with the executive branch, the exact opposite of what the Constitution says and what the Founders had in mind

Bush and the GOP do it again. How many times do tehy have to do this befoe you folks stop justifying it simply because it's being done byy Republicans?

You know that if Klntoon did the same things Bush is doing, FR would be burning with outrage at our socialist president. You know that if a Dimmycra Congress were doing what the GOP Congress is doing, you'd all be screaming that this is why we need to change control.

Can you say "double standard"? Sure, I knew you could.

Blame Vegans and PETA. The Left should recognize the environmental damage caused by Vegans and PETA-- they save animals, for what? CO2 production and bucolic scenery. It's ok for animals to eat each other and multiply, but vegans and PETA would change that, too. They'll FORCE the lion to lie down with the lamb-- it won't matter if it's a natural position, so long as animals become politically correct tools of reproductive rites.

My hubby, who stumbled upon Rush's show while searching for a music station while driving one day, said he heard Rush say he had lost a bunch of losers, then proclaim "But I'll get them back!"

Don't think so at this rate.

I hate to see the demise of Rush, but nothing is forever. He served the nation well; the day may come when he would serve the nation well to shut the hello up.

What I hate is when he reads letters from fed-up former listeners and basically says, "don't let the door bang you on the butt when you leave."

These were the people who MADE him, the people who write, "I've been a listener for 11 years, etc."

Rush may disagree with their criticism of him, but they still deserve better than "don't let the door bang you on the butt when you leave."

If this keeps up, it will be the door banging on Rush's butt when his once-marvelous gig is up.

I am with you on those arguments. And remember, the deficits run up under Reagan because of the massive spending increases (not his tax cut) were used as a hammer to defeat conservative and Republican candidates.

You capitulate to liberals, and you alienate some conservatives AND you do nothing to prevent liberals from using the failures of these liberal policies to defeat you in the future.

Demorats always complain about global warming in summer. People get hot they relate to it. Bush just heading off attack. Good move. Also, if Bush seperates himself from the "Republican" he is able to help bring "independents" in the tent when he campaigns for Republicans this fall.

And I've already axed the Rush Limbaugh program, at least until Rush gets out of this dumb streak he's in.

Right on! I have, too. And cancelled his 24/7 web site. There was a wonderful discussion of this on Rintense's "little" Day in the Life thread several nights ago. There are many, many FReepers in agreement. I haven't let Rush on my radios since, not even his promos.

You forgot to mention we would become vegetarians. Livestock ruminants (cattle, sheep, goats, buffalo, etc.) produce about 80 million tons of methane annually. Have we paid for a study yet to determine the effectiveness of Bean-O in cattle?

"...who is the Unprincipled Right? Would that be the rest of us -- the ones who don't find fault with everything Bush does."

Hey, my FRiend, I'm not calling you or other BushBackers "unprincipled" but I do wonder about those of us who think primarily on two-year November cycles. It means a lot to win gains every two Novembers, but it's what goes on in the interceding two years that most affects our day-to-day lives. Dubyuh's my man, too!! That's what makes his Administration's domestic agenda actions so distasteful...we can win political gains on OUR STANDS on Issues, why are we soooo quick to cede issues to the Left?!

Drudge and Rush are both depending on the New York Times interpretation, which is WRONG!!

Miss Marple, this is my main complaint about Rush and other conservative radio personalities lately.

They act like what they read in the Washington Post or the NYTimes is gospel when it comes to Bush.

But for years they ridiculed what the NYTimes and Washington Post had to say about Clinton, they put no credence whatsoever in these newspapers.

So why all of a sudden are these newspapers trustworthy, and not guilty of spin?

The way I see it is because it serves their purposes now to use these papers as sources, and I think it is extremely hypocritical.

A. No need to go ad hominem, dude.

B. I have tried to click on this report (only 5.7M in .zip formatted .pdf -- it's probably just a page or two --LOL)

Here's what I got:

The requested document does not exist on this server.

The website goes on to say that printed copies of this report will not be available for some time. Okay. I'm happy about that, too.

The point of A. is, you are just like the liberals, who attack anyone with a point of view that is, to you, irrefutable.

The point of B. is, THAT BUSH REALLY IS A CRAPPY PRESIDENT, because he has not had a press conference on this, and put his spin on it, BEFORE the NYT did it to him.

And, hey, guess what? I pay so much in taxes, that I feel I shouldn't have to read through a 5.7M .zip file, and decipher all the bureaucratic lies and gobbledegook, so as to know what Bush is up to.

He should just come out and say what he is up to.

(In this way he is very much like Clinton, IMHO.)

But, hey, he has all the time in the world to say, hundreds and hundreds of times, that, some time, in some distant galaxy, we, the United States, will be attacking Iraq.

Face it, a smart strategist, he ain't.

Face it too, Howlin, that you really, deep down, have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT W IS GOING TO SAY OR DO NEXT. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT NEW PROGRAMS, SLOGAN, OR POLICY HE IS GOING TO ESPOUSE. NO CLUE.

And this says nothing about your personal loyalty to W, which, on the surface, is noble and laudable.

But face it, my friend, neither you nor I have ANY idea what W is going to do, say, champion, or espouse, next.

Face it, he stinks.

And the only hope he (and we) have, is to communicate loudly to him, a la Rush, that we conservatives are setting the bar a little higher for him as a POTUS.

And he better start producing, and start acting like something we can vaguely identify as a conservative.

The very fact that you're continuing to carry forth Drudge's story, after it has been REPEATEDLY DEBUNKED on this very site, shows where YOU are coming from.

I'm weighing in late but I have to agree with your post.

I see this as a quite good piece of W "stratgery".

What you have here is a qualitative analysis of global warming that only restates the known hypothesis. As to any damaging remedies that the greenies would like to impose based on these hypothesis the report tells the environazis basically to pack sand.

In order to use global warming as an issue the wackos have to simultaneously agree and disagree with the same report. The logical gymnastics required in arguing for draconian measures based on this report will be staggering.

As to my own opinion on Global Warming I believe that it may be happening at a slow rate but that it could reverse at any time due to natural cycles or events. The effect of man's activities to either accelerate or retard natural cycles or events is minimal.

There are those on both sides who would rather have a heated debate instead of personal slams. I am one of those.

I have a very sincere question to ask all of you who feel Bush has betrayed you (and no I'm not going to say jack about 2004.)

What I would like to know is this: if Dubya has ruined the conservative movement/party etc., what would you want done to correct it. Simply saying GWB has to go is not an answer. But if it is your answer, then please elaborate as to who should replace him. I am completely serious here. I would like to know what everyone's solution is.

I am looking forward to your thoughtful and insightful posts.
