Talk show host Rick Roberts made headlines with his KFMB-AM radio show about Damon and Brenda van Dams allegedly swinging lifestyle. But he wasnt the only radio personalityor media outletto cast a critical eye on the backstory of the Danielle van Dam kidnapping case.
John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou, whose John and Ken Show airs weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m. on Los Angeles station KFI-AM, devoted three shows to the case, even traveling to San Diego to broadcast from the van Dams Sabre Springs neighborhood. The week before that, they were the first to cast aspersions on the van Dams, a full day before the Roberts broadcast.
The Millennium Childrens Fund had just announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the safe return of Danielle. Fund administrator Douglas Pierce had visited with the van Dams, and the next day he called a press conference in Los Angeles at which he voiced suspicions about the couples behavior. For an hour, Pierce blasted the van Dams for their apparent lack of emotion and general rudeness to him.
I dont know how much was true and how much was hysterical, but thats what made it fascinating. We tried to unravel it on the air, Kobylt says. In retrospect, I think he did peg their personalities very wellthe lack of emotion, the detachment, the obsession with the media messageand perhaps he got the vibe that they live a different life than most people.
As soon as Pierce finished on-air, John and Ken introduced their next guests: an angry Damon and Brenda van Dam, who lambasted Pierce as a nut case. We had scheduled them in advance, but when they heard Doug was on the show, they canceled, only to change their minds right before show time, Kobylt says.
After the interview, John and Ken picked apart the conversation and spoke critically about the van Dams lack of emotion and their defensiveness about questions pertaining to their own behavior and actions the last night Danielle was seen. The next day, the swinger story broke in The San Diego Union-Tribunefurthered that evening on San Diego radio by Rick Roberts.
Its a very dramatic story, says Kobylt. Everybody got obsessed with it pretty quickly... We have a pretty fair audience in San Diegoweve even made it into the top 10 on occasionand we started getting calls from people who live in the neighborhood and know the van Dams. As a result, it might as well have been in L.A. I tend to look at the whole [Southern California] area as the same, anyway.
(By press deadline, the van Dams could not be reached for comment by San Diego Magazine.)
Quoting the proverbial unnamed sources close to the probe, the Star reported that later-arrested suspect David Westerfield was aware of the van Dams sexual activities and had approached Brenda about hosting a sex-swap party in his house. The Star said Brenda had admitted to police that the couple belonged to a swingers club called Club CB and that sources say she flirted outrageously and danced with Westerfield the Friday night Danielle disappeared. He [Westerfield] knew that Brenda and her friends were sexually involved, and he wanted to be part of the action, but for whatever reason, he was not invited by Brenda to accompany her and her four friends back to her home that night for more partying and sex, the Star says it was told by a source.
Many of these 'porn' images are from photographs that old, I believe.
After reading the article posted here,
http://64.225.95.82/dcf/Danielle/2038.html
It seems like the kind of organizing into folders and subfolders that would be set up on the site where these files were downloaded from.
Even so, in the testimony that I saw, they have not been able to get anyone in Law Enforcement to unequivocably say that those images were of ' underage' girls. The fact that they appeared to be underage is the biggest selling point of the images. That is why the vendor/website advertizes them as the following:
PRE-TEEN
GIRLS WITH FARM ANIMALS
FAMILY AFFAIRS
YOUNG LOLITAS
etc....
Now, let me ask you this, anyone. Do you think that if these images REALLY contained underage kids, the Mag vendors, movie vendors, websites, COULD CONTINUE TO SELL THEM, MAKE THEM AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD and VIEW from the INTERNET, it that were really the case. Don't you think that our LEO's would have been after them (since this exact stuff has been available for 25 years or more).
Did the public think Westerfield might have taken these pictures himself ?, or gotten them from a source that no one else in the U.S. has?
Sorry to be so graphic, but it is funny, almost, to see how a large section of the FR readership, and the general public can be swayed , and not think of some of the more obvious things.
LIKE, what were the other 63,900 images of, if only 100 were porn?
Were they are related to images of a sexual nature ?
If you got onto a website and downloaded 64000 images of country scenes, they would probably be organized into folders by type, doncha think?
Would that mean (or prove) because they were organized into folders, that YOU were anal-retentive (neat freak)? These are the questions the sheep dare not ask.
Lastly, you pointed out legal ways of selling/producing online porn. Ah, there's also the non-commericial porn files... IE:homemade stuff, black market stuff, free stuff: all of which does not fall under commercial law/business law?...the list can go on and on..right?
What's the dispute? I've missed it. Can you help me find the list of chemicals or whatever it was that was referred to? Was it in the transcripts..I'm too tired to think tonight. Will see ya tomorrow.
This tank is usually in a heated environment to protect it from freezing in winter. (like your garage).
The HTH pills are essentially CHLORINE TABLETS. The pool is supposed to be checked for Chlorine content and PH balance. I suppose you could even use Chlorox Bleach instead of HTH tablets.
You would have a odor of chlorine in your garage NO MATTER WHAT.
Some people and public pools keep Chlorox bleach near the pool with a foot sized pan for each person to step into before entering the pool. THIS IS TO CUT DOWN ON TRANSMITTAL OF ATHLETE'S FOOT to OTHERS ! ! ! ! ! ! !
SORRY, NO SALE ON THIS.
I think, once again, that the police and DA were under the gun to calm the public, assure their re-election, and so they locked on a target and put pieces together even if the parts didn't really fit together correctly. A little glue, tape, and some scissors, and they got them to stick together. The picture is a little distorted, but as long as the public is happy, who cares.
60,000 or more graphic images files on a ZIP DISK found on a bookshelf.
2200 MPEG files, and I don't believe it was specified what was contained in these movie files.
Pictures of his ladyfriend's daughter stored as graphic images on the hard drive of his computer.
During the testimony, if you didn't pay real close attention, you would not have noticed they said this. You could easily assume the Danielle bathing suit image was on the porn zipdisk.
I think you make another point..If the man was addicted to "young girls" or porn in general, He would have had other things in his home. Did they find illegal kiddy porn mag? CD's or tapes. This was a single male. He had no wife to hide sexual material from.
Fresno's swinging posts made me curious enough to go check some out..my goodness they keep popping out at you, opening new windows.. You could end up with tons of stuff on your computer without trying. What else do they have?
Nevertheless, I did go back until I found my post. And in all the testimony that you just posted, please point out to me where it says that all the images they looked at were porn. Quote from the transcripts, if you can find it. They describe what was in the 100 or less images they found questionable, but do not seem to call the rest of the images "porn." People are ass-u-me ing things that aren't in the testimony, unless you can find a direct reference to 67,000 porn images.
WESTERFIELD'S LAWYERS? That's a hoot, Fresno! These reporters have, themselves, printed these "hints" in various newspaper articles--you've posted some just yesterday! So now they're pulling a "Kimmee" and blaming the lawyers? Oh, that's sad.
...almost makes ya wonder how many of these reporters belong to the CB Swing Club....
Good standup material, Kim. Trying out for the Comedy Club? Every time someone mentioned they were swingers, you started screeching "rumor!" Guess what? Some rumors are true. Especially a "rumor with legs" like this one, and, to use a subject people on Free Republic know all too well, consider the stained blue dress "rumor" from a couple years back.
Kim, pretty please, READ THE BLEEPIN' TRANSCRIPTS? It says no such thing. It says less than 100 of the images were questionable. It says NONE of the images were child porn. Sheesh.
