RUSH: What if it were Clinton?
Rush Limbaugh show | April 10, 2002 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 04/10/2002 10:27:24 AM PDT by Risky Schemer

(The following is PARAPHRASED - not exact quotes, from a discussion that covered a couple of segments.)

Rush got a caller during the last part of the first hour of his show, who wanted to complain about Rush's "Bush bashing."

"You're always bashing Bush. Every time I tune in you are bashing Bush," the caller said. Rush protested, "Not every time."

The caller said,"You've criticized him on campaign finance reform, the education bill, taxes, Israel policy . . . I just don't think that now, since we have a conservative in office, that we ought to be giving the left material they can use against him in the nest elections - 'Look, Bush let you down . . .'. You don't believe Bush should compromise, that it's necessary?"

Rush said, "I've said before, I'm all for compromise when it advances the conservative agenda. I am tired of compromise that advances the liberal agenda."

Rush then asked the caller, "What is my job here?" Rush then explained his job was not to act as a mouthpiece for the Republican party, but to advance conservatism and resist liberalism.

"Look," Rush said, "Bush said he was opposed to campaign finance reform, said it was wrong, and then he signed it. During his campaign he said he that Jerusalem should be the capital of Israel and now he has come out for a Palestinian state."

"Let me ask you something, all you people who think I am Bush bashing. What if it were Clinton. What would you people be calling me about now?"

If Gore was president right now I truly believe there would be civil war in America.

democRATs are everything that's wrong with America.
The RATs are hoping we continue to infight.

Let's keep the House and win the Senate back and then we can resume fire.

Well, everyone is free to disagree with policy. However, it seems to me Rush has dwelt far too long on those things he is unhappy with. Those who want to continue to pick on things that are over and done with (like CFR) and gripe because things aren't perfect are welcome to join Rush in his criticism.

I have heard all the arguments on Israel ad infinitum. Since I am not privy to intelligence or strategic information, I am going to trust that Bush is doing what is best for the AMERICAN people, and in Israel's long term interest. We elected an honorable man who has a good security team. It would make no sense for them to conduct policy on the fly and desert a long-time ally. I am waiting to see what happens, and in my opinion Rush is not contributing to understanding what is going on.

Rush will be acting as a mouthpiece of the GOP again

When limbaugh is mentioned I get a visual of him wearing a pleated skirt, a sweater with an "r" on it and waving pom-poms. I need to learn graphics.

Regards

J.R.

"What is my job here?" Talk radio builds ratings with controversy and conflict. If all Rush did was cheerlead for Bush and talk about golf, even his ratings would decline.

Bush is not a Conservative. He is a Republican, which has nothing to do with any sort of conservative ideals. What did you expect?

I held my nose and voted for him, (Anyone but Gore), but I am not surprized in the least in his actions.

you are exactly correct. Both parties are statists-the debate is not whether the state has the authority to abrogate individual rights. The only quarrel is what rights to abrogate. Libertarian party ahoy.

it is ok to disagree with someone on an issue - that is what debate is for (or used to be for.)

You are right, Pete, it is okay to disagree with someone on an issue. My beef with Bush is I never got the opportunity to disagree. He said one thing but did another. I was tricked. Yeah, a little debate would be great, but how do you debate a flip-flopper? I gave him my money and my time based on his words and how I perceived his character. He betrayed both. That isn't up for debate.

Go huff some paint...I don't agree with Rush most of the time, but if noone is critical then Bush won't have the conservative agenda in mind.

Actually, I think that CFR was brilliant in most respects

1) No rose garden ceremony, takes the issue away from Rhino Mccain(inlcuding his leftist friends) and makes him look stupid

2) Upped the limit to 2000. Good for Bush and the repubs.

3) Diminishing money to the parties. Bad part here. But this may be challenged in court

No kidding. That little phrase has been beating to death and rendered meaningless, except for those that put party before country.

"Bush is a fraud."

I'll reply to your comment by posting what I posted on another thread earlier this morning:

A FReeper wrote: "Time to put America's interest first, not Israel's."

I responded: "So you think that isn't happening??? LOL!!!! Ever hear of the "slow boat to China"? That's the one Powell is taking on his way to Israel. He left Sunday. Gets there Friday. LOL!!! Got a very cold shoulder in Egypt (his first stop). They wanted to know what he was doing there ... why wasn't he in Israel?? LOL!!!

Don't be naive. What you see and hear from Bush is for "public consumption". Let's not forget the mentality of that world-wide "public" and remember that perception is reality to the vacuous. You have no idea what's going on behind the scenes that is not meant for public consumption.

But you should .... if you know Bush, and his team. LOL!! But ... maybe you don't."

Reality is this: There really are "useful idiots" out there who will be "fooled" by the snakes on the left unless someone else gets to them first and heads them off at the pass.

Bush is an expert "snake-handler".

>>However, it seems to me Rush has dwelt far too long on those things he is unhappy with.<<

Bush does things almost DAILY that advance liberalism and set back conservativism. Rush is a commentator. It is too bad you don't appreciate that he is doing his job.

"If I had voted for Gore, at least I would have known what I was getting."

Pray tell, what would we be getting? The only thing for sure I know is that Gore was against abortion, and when he went 'national', he became for it. I know that he was a 'Yes, man' for Clinton, and I know he took Chinese campaign contributions siphoned through Buddhist monks.

I also know that he is for a much bigger central government than the Republicans, and that teachers unions and administrators, not teachers and students, would get the 'education' funding.

The ONE thing I am sure that I would be 'getting' from Algore is THE SHAFT!

And, now because of 'Jumpin' Jim Jeffords', I am getting the 'shaft' from Daschle and the Senate.

"Getting nothing but approval, in contrast, could persuade him that it doesn't matter what policies he adopts."

I agree. Isn't there something in the New Testament to the effect of the Lord Jesus saying "Woe to you when the world loves you?" Any time we find our enemies liking what we say and schmoozing us without revulsion, we should know that we are in danger of compromising our principles. Better to have all the enemies as ENEMIES, than to have some of them as friends.

Gore? You would have an idiot that dyes his hair.

Really, What does hair dying have to do with anything?
