I'm afraid I am not just talking about Mexicans.

Good point. NO one should do that. Who are we to determine who is "worthy" of opportunity?

If the things I suggested were imposed, 95% of your Mexicans would have to go home. Opening the borders under the conditions I imposed would have to result in a net outflow. How on earth could you believe that the current influx of immigrants could satisfy all these requirements?

"That is soooo easy to say living here. Could you change this country? No. Easier said than done. It is so easy to have others do what you yourself are not able or willing to do. For example. All you people on FR do is bitch and moan about how terrible America is becoming. Yet that is all you do. Why don't you do something about this country? Right. Beacause it is easier to make excuses and demand others do it for you."

Why is it people assume that being born here is an automatic guarantee to life on easy street?

As I have responded to " priviledged ,white bread upringing" remarks in the past, just because CNN says ALL Americans have it easy, don't generalize us as to think that some of us came from dirt poor families, with outhouses and woodstoves, with shoot straight or eat beans again dinner, with conditions that aren't much better than what people have in Mexico.

My own upbringing wasn't the "Leave it to Beaver" show, but after 15 years, nails in my knee, my left eye busted like a grape, a staple shot clean through my finger, probably 10,000 splinters dug out of my hands, I now have worked my way into a sweet job.

I left an abusive situation at 15, and have been on my own since. I have lived on the streets and I've gone hungry.

So don't tell me about easy, friend.

"It is so easy to have others do what you yourself are not able or willing to do."

You mean like get a job, get car insurance, pay taxes, obey the law, not collect welfare, learn English, is that what you mean?

"For example. All you people on FR do is bitch and moan about how terrible America is becoming. Yet that is all you do. Why don't you do something about this country? Right. Beacause it is easier to make excuses and demand others do it for you.

Let me inform you of something, there are many veterans, including ME, here in this forum, who didn't make excuses and served their country, and didn't ask others to do JACK SQUAT for them, as many feel compelled to do now by living off the sweat of others.

The only pantywaisted person doing anything resembling whining, is you.

AFTER the people who brought you here

For one Mexico has it's own part of the Americas ---also when the previous immigrants came, there was lots of empty land to homestead. Now there isn't and we already have cities that are plenty big enough. Where do you intend to put all the Mexicans you want to bring here? Should they be forced to build new towns --(except there is no vacant land left) or make our already big cities much bigger? Mexico City is huge ---if we bring everyone from there here ---that's a city far bigger than NY ---so where do they all go?

Fine, but people here are suggesting we "close" the border to everyone.

So what do we say to Russian immigrants? They have 1/6 of the land on earth 1/10 of the oil, a whole $h!tload of other natural reasources. Why isn't that standard applied to them?

Not everyone, just the Scots...and the French.

If you wish so badly to live in a third world country, there are plenty of them that you can move to.

Most of us do not care to see this country turned into one, which is what you are trying to promote.

Yes we are a wealthy country, and I for one would like to see it stay that way. What you suggest is not the way to go about it.

Not to mention the security risks.

Have a nice entitled life, comrade.

My point is that your standards can never and will never be applied. If we are talking ideals, then we can talk for hours about a multitude of things we would like changed. But reality does not allow for what you are suggesting, most of which I agree with.

Right, and I have never once read any here on FR say, "Keep the Russians out". It only seems to apply to Mexicans.

But why not allow Mexicans the opportunity to contribute to that wealth.

I don't think anyone wants all the Russians moving here either. I don't think there's that many trying to come here ---just some. There should be some immigration from Mexico. I can think of several people from Mexico who belong here more than there. The ones who should come should have something to contribute plus they should have learned English before they come and have studied the Constitution. And there are some like that ---they get overlooked because so many aren't like that.

Some may (haven't seen it really here), but I haven't. I have however suggested quite a few requirements for immigrants to be granted citizenship. Prospective immigrants satisfying those requirements would certainly be a net contribution to this country. You even said yes, they were reasonable. You have failed to explain how the fact that the majority of immigrants flooding across the border right now contradicts your belief that we should open the floodgates (which they already are - so your demand is a silly one any way).

Keep the Russians out, they're flooding our welfare roles. No, wait, we need them to pick crops and work in restaurants and construction.
