Mass immigration of low-wage labor can cause more poverty(here) which can lead to even more violence(here). The argument has always been, "but the migrant worker keeps the cost of produce down which we all benefit from...."..So we all condone "slave labor"?
Mexico's corrupt government policies against it's own people will never change as long as the U.S. continues to allow "potential revolutionist's" easy access to a simpler solution.
Unfortunately all the "dissolve the border" talk is not coming from just "Mexican" government officials.
I've finally decided it would've been better if Gore had won. At least we'd have a full throated out of the closet liberal in the WH with full pubbie opposition. That would've meant, no Patriot Act, no Homeland Security (anybody know how to say that in German) no in your face Secret Govt and no Model Emergency Health Powers Act (which gives state governors the ability to declare martial law, sieze property as needed, round up people and put them in sports stadiums for mandatory injections of vaccines (who knows what's really in them) etc.). (Read about it at ALEC.ORG)
He talks like Reagan, but governs like Clinton would've if he would've ever taken his job seriously. What a shame that this is the best our political system could produce.
Terrorism is a whole nother ballgame! This Islamic terrorism comes from the Muslim's hatred of Israel and America. Nothing more.
Actually Karl Marx is a prime example of poverty and class envy being exploited by power hungry madmen (and terrorists) toward their own ambitions throughout history.....which is exactly what Bush is talking about.
It is no accident that the majority of the 9-11 terrorists were born in Saudi Arabia but were Yemeni Citizens. They were the sons and grandsons of laborers brought into Saudi Arabia to do the stoop labor and service jobs that the Saudi Citizens would not. About 20% of Saudi Arabia's population is in this category.
Can you imagine anything more frustrating than living and laboring in the shadow of opulence knowing that you are prevented from even aspiring to a higher station in life, that you cannot ever be a citizen in the land of your birth?
This pool of frustrated people is trained in Saudi sponsored schools that their plight, and that of the Muslim World in general, is not the fault of their Saudi Muslim Brothers and benefactors but the West and the United States and Israel in General. Graduation for those that learned their lessons best is to the Terrorist Training Camps (all outside Saudi Arabia) and out into the world to take their revenge.
It is my belief that Saudi Arabia is the "Elephant in the Room" and will have to be dealt with sooner rather later.
"We fight poverty because hope is an answer to terror,"
