GWB's high approval ratings may have given him the misimpression that the American people will allow him to do whatever he wants--especially with regards to amnesty.

GWB does not seem to realize what a hot-button issue amnesty is. Nor does he seem to realize he is handing the Democrats this issue on a silver platter. He says the amnesty bill might apply to upwards of 300,000. In gaining those 300,000 potential votes, he may be losing 3,000,000 or more votes.

Mr. Bush, amnesty is NOT a favorable position--after 9-11; after Atta's visa approval; after such incompetence in the INS. Mr. Bush, your position only encourages MORE illegals and your position is losing you votes.

Actually, it is more likely that if current trends continue, Bush will get 80,000 more voters and the Democrats will get 220,000. That is a net loss of 140,000 votes.
Then we add the conservatives, nationalists, and populistsw Bush has pissed off.
I would suggest that you check out Alien Nation by Peter Brimlow.
