For a lot of Mexicans, paying $1,000 is too small a price for the myriad advantages and entitlements of U.S. citizenship. And don't think they won't pay it. They're accustomed to work, unlike many others in this country, and they can save when it's important to them. That value extends to many of their relatives who might also chip in to foot the bill.
The family ties provision in the bill helps, but when these families include as many as ten or more children ...
Let them re-unite in Mexico.
