An aide to Mr. Daschle said his office received an increased volume of phone calls after his criticisms last week but did not know whether the callers supported or opposed his stance.

Now if that isn't an obvious democrat lying! Of course they know by what degree the calls were protests, because they keep track.

There is NO other reason, to explain why he backed off the issue.

Hopefully the SD voters are keeping track, too. He has been consistently casting about, for any issue to discredit Bush--it is in the daily talking points. Can you say "No traction?"
