CAUSE OF GIRL'S DEATH COULD REMAIN MYSTERY
Police say they may never know how Danielle van Dam died, or when. The seven-year-old girl disappeared from her San Diego home February first. Authorities are now confirming that a child's body found by volunteer searchers Wednesday is that of the missing child. The district attorney says an autopsy performed confirmed her identity yesterday. The identification was made through dental records because of the condition of the body. Medical examiners are trying to determine the cause of death, but Police Chief Dave Bejerano says it's possible that we'll never know how, or when she was killed. A neighbor has been charged with kidnapping and murdering her. Authorities say they found the girl's blood on his clothing and in his motor home. He has pleaded innocent. |

Maybe we can find out if there's a homes association and then look for possible online by-laws.
I have been following the last two threads, along with the news. What is most strange is that a mom would not check on her kids, and kiss them goodnight upon arriving home. Also, good parents always check on their kids before retiring.
Did they fire you for making things up?
Kim, did you see AMW? If I recall right, Mr VD said he checked the back sliding glass door at 1:30 am and it was slightly open which he attributed to someone discarding ashes off a cigarrette and that some of the people at the party were smokers...the party didn't begin until 2:30 am, can you explain that? 573 posted on 3/2/02 11:56 PM Pacific by rolling_stone
Excuse me? What does that mean???
"The problem with arm chair detecting is that we can only speculate on the 1% that is released to the press. One should carefully examine the attitude of LE toward the parents. In this case it has been what I would call tender and considerate as toward a victimized family. "
That is the truth! The judge is ready to release most info and theperps attny of course wants it suppressed. He said he doesn't want the case "tried in the press".
I find this strange too. The few times that I would be out late while hubby cared for the kids, I would always look in on them upon arriving home.
It's just a "mom" thing. Dad's may have not tucked them in just right or whatever. I had to see that they were peacefully resting before I went to sleep.
Do I sense enjoyment as you type that??
Mr. Weston, may I call you Greg??
I have sensed in the several hundred posts you have responded to or written, a "teensy weensy" bias in favor on the Van Dam('s). Why?
Most folk on the open forum are aware that there are many ALLEGED theories about the involvement of the VD's in the abduction, and consequential death of their daughter.
Such theories have ranged from negligence (for not checking on the children for so many hours) to outright involvement, either as coconspirators, or as the actual perpetrator(s) who are in fact framing Westerfield.
Likewise, there are obvious reasons (circumstantial blood, fiber and DNA evidence) against Westerfield, OBVIOUSLY making him the Prime Suspect.....
The ONLY REASON GREG that some on the open forum are suspicious of the "SLAM DUNK" conclusion to this case, is because of two people.
If they were, (ready for this Greg!!) a normal married couple, then in fact this would be a SLAM DUNK......
Would your lifestyle, if perused closely under a microscope reveal charges of an "alternative/secretive lifestyle"?
The VD's have never categorically denied the questions by numerous reporters of their WIFE SWAPPING/SWINGER lifestyle. If those charges were leveled at myself and my wife, we would deny them, and there would be no evidence to the contrary. And 99.99% of the folks on Free Republic would say the same......
The VD's are amongst the .01% of the San Diego population, who allegedly "SWING". And it is solely because of this "alternative lifestyle" that this case WILL NOT be considered a typical case. The VD's will be under scrutiny, for this reason primarily.
Yes, there are other reasons.
1. Questions of Brenda VD and Westerfield having a longer term intimate personal relationship.
2. Questions of Damon having an affair with a neighbor in the Sabre Springs housing development.
3. Questions of the financial capabilities of Damon as a single income provider, to Brenda, a stay-at-home mom and part time book sales rep....
The pendulum of public scrutiny continues to, well Greg, "SWING". Tomorrow will be very enlightening if the SDPD case files are made public.
No flaming here, but some hard questions for you....from the other perspective:
The fact that he would have to drive to his office and pickup the RV in the morning would even further delay his getaway with the body.
No, I think you are getting them mixed up with the Yates family. They lived in a bus.
Yes
I didn't know it was parked elsewhere. That is news to me. In our town RV pads are quite common built at the side or rear of homes.
Also, a theory as to why he slept late. These types of crime are frequently committed under the influence of drugs/alcohol. And to put it delicately, the release of severe pent up tension can make one sleepy too. Sleeping it off late in the morning, (unintentionly) may explain the late departure.
Or he deposited as bound and gagged Danielle in the motorhome parked at his business and returned to find she had inadvertantly suffocated.
Tomorrow is a big document dump in this case. Tomorrow we should know why Westerfield was pinpointed so early on.
