CAUSE OF GIRL'S DEATH COULD REMAIN MYSTERY
Police say they may never know how Danielle van Dam died, or when. The seven-year-old girl disappeared from her San Diego home February first. Authorities are now confirming that a child's body found by volunteer searchers Wednesday is that of the missing child. The district attorney says an autopsy performed confirmed her identity yesterday. The identification was made through dental records because of the condition of the body. Medical examiners are trying to determine the cause of death, but Police Chief Dave Bejerano says it's possible that we'll never know how, or when she was killed. A neighbor has been charged with kidnapping and murdering her. Authorities say they found the girl's blood on his clothing and in his motor home. He has pleaded innocent. |
I think you are confusing two things here.
The discussion has been whether or not the "rumors" are true. The VDs have not denied it and therefore helped give it some credence. I don't think anyone really expects them to share it publicly.
The point is that if it is true, it opens up a whole world of things that could be connected to a sexual crime. Don't you understand that?
It is not about privacy, swinging or anything else per se. It's about people who MAY indulge in a lifestyle that puts them in close contact with sexually deviant friends and strangers.
Can't you see that as a legitimate point to investigate as well as a fact to be pondered by those who want to know the entire story of the time surrounding the crime.
This thread is a discussion of the abduction and murder and all the characters involved. I hope that the investigators are having similar discussions. If not, they are not doing their jobs.
If you were my girlfriend, or wife, or daughter, you wouldn't. [Then again, it sounds like you won't be making the short list...]
More grist for the defense teams mill. If sabre springs is a swinging cabal, the spectre of conspiracy looms large, even if only in a defense attorney's and jury's mind.
I also wonder about the lack of "nosy neighbors". Usually in the neighborhood there are those residents who keep a careful eye on all comings and goings, who would have observed Westerfield, the van Dams and all visitors.
I assume that the a large proportion of the neighborhood will be subponeod to offer testimony.
Thank you for allowing the possibility that I may not be.
Oh please. You should have been here when Drudge brought up the blue dress. Oh, the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of women that were going to come forward and testify. Rumors! Wheeee!!!
You guys would be a blast in the newsgroup alt.true-crime (there are other Freepers there as well) while we discuss crimes that happen. People who are true crime buffs are like mystery novel readers ... they come up with theories, discard them and put it all back together again. The police do the same thing. No one here is putting the trial in jeopardy.
Good since I'm already married and someone else's daughter.
BTW........I was just joking around. Lighten up, guy.
If I hear anything worthwhile, I'll let you know.
Yes, the message from FR is "come clean, van Dams". For every undenied allegation they let go by, the Westerfield defense will offer up 10 more to sway a jury.
The more the van Dams try to separate their private activities (which could involve hundreds of mysterious Jane and John Does) from the adbuction/murder case, the stronger will be the defense effort to paint them red.
And you are one of the ones wanting to send him back to the Gulag, right?
Itis interesting that the judge was asked to impose a gag order in this case and did not issue a gag order.
I hope you're kidding.
I had posted on another of your threads my suspicions about the father's innocence. All we have are his earlier (now appear to be untrue) claims that he read a bedtime story to his daughter and went to bed while mother was out. I also suggested HE may have done something to his daughter, instead, during this time. Your statement above coincides to some extent my thoughts. However, why would DvD kill his daughter for revenge against the neighbor? Is this what you are implying?
One of the first things that came to mind [when all the tawdry stuff about Brenda VD began to surface], was if this Damon character was actually the father of all the children. Maybe Danielle wasn't his?
I perfectly understand how it could come into relevance in the case, and have never stated otherwise. What I do not see as relevant is them having to discuss it, deny it or admit it to a public forum as long as the police know about it. I also do not see where their refusing to discuss it makes them more deviant in the eyes of many, or the fact that they do not outright deny it make it an absolute truth. Again, the focus should have been on finding the child, not discussing their sex life with the public. As I have said from the start, and continue to say, the public has no right to know as long as they have been open about it with the police, if it is true. No one, at this point, has shown that the police investigators were not privy to the VD's lifestyle regardless of what it is.
They seem like a defense attorney's dream. All he has to do is convince one juror that there is reasonable doubt based on the activities of the parents.
