I've got a son that never came

I wrote a very strong poem some 27 years ago about a "son I never had". At the time my wife was pregnant with our first child and the Roe vs Wade and just come to its conclusion. I was going to be a father and was very excited. Just the thought of someone getting an abortion was beyond my comprehension!

The poem was found about 20 years later in the piano bench and my youngest son wrote a song to it. He sang it several times in church and you could hear a pin drop when he was finished. I even had a lady come up to me and with a "I'll slap you in the face" look and tell me how sad the song was and that it didn't belong in church.

My wife and I have three beautiful children and we just became grandma and grandpa this past July 4th. We never once thought of abortion as an alternative. Starting from conception...we have loved them all every day of there lives! I was asked to post the poem...so here goes.

I've got a son that never came.
One that flew kites and arrow-planes.
One that danced in the springtime rains.
Don't know why or who's to blame.
But I've got a son that never came.

Bullfrogs and butterflies he'll never see.
He'll stroll through an open field, but not with me.

There was a time his heart beat strong.
It beat with rhythm as in a song.
And to me his love belonged.
Don't know why or what went wrong.
But there was a time his heart beat strong.

It's left in my mind and my heart will tease.
There's no love in my life for my son and me.

Before I had a chance to fight.
They took my son up a flight.
To a room to take his life.
Don't know why I had no rights.
Before I had a chance to fight.

Then five months early they stole him from his womb.
Laid him in a corner and watched him die in his tomb.

But for one split second I thought I heard him cry...
"I'm gonna have to leave you now. I love you Dad. Goodbye."

Fine words: thought provoking words; words to galvanize one to action?

Perhaps........ but in Indiana, THIS is what passes for righteous indignation THESE days........

Thanks for posting this.

As all who can see, being a Grampa is very important to me as per my posting name.

Yesterday I spent most of the day watching and caring for my two grand babies (Grandson 1 year old, 27 Feb. and Granddaughter who will be 3, 27 May). Papa is a little sore this morning, but he thanks God for the time allowed to him to share with these two gifts from God!

Just the thought of aborting my two adult sons or these precious babies, puts tears in my eyes.

Abortion is murder and the destruction of the innocents, and that crime's impact will last lifetimes!

Thank you Cob. I was only 18 put already knew I had another human being living inside of me, and I did not have the right to end her life.
Today, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't get a phone call from the grandkids or my daughter. One just had his tonsils taken out, the other one, (The future Marine) just had some fillings in his teeth, and the 12 year old is driving her parents nuts, LOL. Never a dull moment. I have never regreted having my daughter.

Many women of today may be thinking about the child they killed. Or, maybe they are not. The consciences of many people have been burned out of existence.

I've got a son that never came.

Have him go to a urologist. If that fails, a psychiatrist...

I saw this video on TLC a couple weeks ago. It was the most awesome thing to see. I have printed the picture but to actually see something so fantastic as this on film takes your breath away! For those of you who didn't see it, they film the surgery and later, they film the live birth, and you see the scars that are completely healed. Amazing, and by the Grace of God, the surgeons saved a little boy.

sorry I missed it - we are cable free. It sounds like mandatory viewing though - thanks for the bump

30th anniversary Roe v. Wade ping. Hopefully, in the near future, I will be able to do a ping for the REVERSAL of Roe v. Wade.

BTW, Nathan's doing great...he's 11 months old today, and weighs in at a healthy 20 plus pounds. Thanks to Nathan, we've been able to disable all of our alarm clocks! He's still waking up around 6 AM for his morning feeding!
