No,this is just your beliefs based on your religious biases/views. You want them "punished" for having sex

If their need for sex led to the murder of their daughter, then yes, I want them punished for sex.

I don't believe this. Not unless it happens to be a truth you agree withIf the truth is that their lifestyle, or choices that they made that night, had NOTHING to do with her murder, I will be the first to say sorry for speculating. But these people go on tv everyday pleading for help, and donations, from the community. If you expect people to help you, you at least owe them the truth.

If they believe their activities are healthy and fine, do they do a 180 when it comes to their children?

It's hard to believe you read what you write,or even think about it. Or anything else, for that matter. Tell me,do you ever have sex with your spouse? How about a drink? Would you do this with your 6 year old? Why not? Do you do a 180 when it comes to your children?

Could this be Westerfield's defense? Somebody killed her and planted the body in his motor home. When he discovered the body, he panicked and got rid of it. It just might be plausible too.

Yup,and if he gets lucky and gets some of these posters on his jury,he will walk for sure. They ain't interested in convicting anybody but the parents.

Later reports said the dog was not debarked, but that the pooch didn't often bark.

Reference my post on #212 where I questioned the procedure of "debarking" a dog. We obviously don't have any facts on this as yet, but I just spoke with the vet I used to work for, because I couldn't really believe that an ethical vet would do this to an animal. He gave me a few pieces of interesting information:

(1) Most of the dogs who have this procedure are the small yappy breeds because people are too lazy to train the dog; (2) this is not a procedure that most vets are happy to perform; (3) a dog can still make some noise, even after having their vocal cords disabled, unhappily for the morons who would do this to their pet; (4) Rotts are not a breed known to be major barkers, they would rather rip you a new one first; (5) the dog probably knew the intruder and that is why it did not cause a scene.

Here is an interesting audio interview with a close friend of Westerfields.
Has been posted on previous occasions, but still adds more questions to the overall mix.
Carmen Genovese 02/26/02 15:43
Carmen has known David Westerfield, the accused kidnapper and killer of Danielle van Dam, for over 20 years. He claims that rather than being a brutal psychopathic murderous pedophile, David’s actually a sweet puppy dog (ACCUSED of being a brutal psychopathic murderous pedophile).

I realize that it is difficult for a God-less mind to understand but there is a very big difference. Sex within marriage is not immoral. Drinking in moderation is not immoral. While I may not do it with children present, I would not contradict my beliefs by telling them these things are wrong. They are not !!! Hence, my morals are consistent.

It's a good guess that whatever the beliefs are of the parents, they are passed onto their children until such age that they can make their own judgments.

I find it far too unlikely to believe that Brenda and Damon are Mr. and Mrs. PTA by day and sexual deviants by night. It is more than likely that their attitudes and behaviors run throughout every aspect of their lives.

Your obvious devotion to "the lifestyle" blinds you to one of the most disgusting cases of NEGLECT ever seen.

Wrong again. How could I have a "obvious devotion to the lifestyle" when I don't and never have practiced it? I DO have the quaint,old-fashioned view that adults should be free to live their lives as they wish.

I also agree that they were wrong for not checking on their children for so long. I hesitate to call it neglect because they WERE in their own home where most people feel a sense of security, and because I don't have any children of my own. I SUSPECT that when people feel secure in their surroundings, they may sometimes overlook checking on their children as often as they should. I leave it to the parents here to comment on this, although I would be shocked to see any admit they did this themselves. ESPECIALLY given the nature of the lynch mob here.

(1) Most of the dogs who have this procedure are the small yappy breeds because people are too lazy to train the dog; (2) this is not a procedure that most vets are happy to perform;

The distribution of dogs that have a vocal cordectomy (debarking) spreads across dog sizes and breeds in a fairly uniform fashion. Additionally, if a DVM is unhappy in performing this procedure, they can object to do so, citing a professional objection.

PS: And, although the reply was facetious, I should also state for the record that the pictures I have seen of Danielle do look to me as though she was being groomed for a career in the porn industry.

Just listen to the audio link and pay specific attention at 6:55 into the interview where Damon is telling Brenda in the background to not comment on the events and time when Brenda came home with her friends.

The police had told them to not give out ANY information on the case, and this would include what time she got home. Make this kind of information public, and you have hundreds of people calling up the police to offer eye witness "evidence". It muddies the water.

Shapiro weighs in on the van Dam case against Westerfield......

Listen on Media Player, and you can Freep while listening.....

Robert Shapiro, Fmr OJ Attorney 02/25/02 13:07
Danielle van Dam’s neighbor, David Westerfield, has been charged with her murder, even without a body. Former O.J. Attorney Robert Shapiro joins the show to explain how. Also, how could a guy with so much evidence against him possibly defend himself? Rob knows a thing or two about that sorta thing.

Shapiro says he would challenge the DNA evidence, and that there will
be a tough case for the DA, even with the evidence in hand...

How about... The Van Dams will be relieved if their extracurricular lifestyle is not held up to a microscope by defense counsel?

What planet are you from?

I think that if they did not wish a plea agreement, none would be made.

This just proves you are incapable of rational thought. The DA is the one who makes this decision,NOT the family.

Let's wait and see if one is arranged.

Yeah,that would be nice.

Did you mean to answer my thoughts on the case with a mean attack on me personally?

No one was left alone for 11 hours. The father was present in the home the entire time.

Unfortunately, being present at home did not prevent this tragedy...

The father put the kids to bed around 10:00 PM and the parents did not check on them again until 9:00 AM...a portion of that time the parents were not even in the house...

I am not lying, but perhaps you are guilty of not reading the later reports, so you can be better informed. Go to the San Diego Union-Tribune and read the articles. The dog was not debarked. Then please apologize.

No,I won't apologize. I accused you of lying about the mother dancing with the murder suspect. There is no evidence of this other than his word, and she has no reason to lie about it. She admits to talking with him at the neighborhood bar that night, but not dancing with him.

I think CPS is evil and believe that the government should never be allowed the power to tell us how we can raise our children. There is one caveat and that is when parents commit criminal acts against their children in which case it should fall under the jurisdiction of the police. The mere suspicion that a parent *might* abuse their child is not sufficient for any government agency including the police to step in and disrupt a family.

Much of this comes down to how the CPS unit for a given county conducts operations. Some are squared away, some are not.

Police are not equipped to deal with many of the issues arising from sexual or other forms of abuse involving children and parents/adult guardians. The issue is much more subtle than the government telling you how to raise your children. In these parts, you won't have a CPS problem if you spank a child for being bad. If you beat them silly, you will have a CPS problem. CPS will not intervene (in Western New York at least) based on "might".
