I hate to be a wet blanket, and if this has been covered elsewhere, please let me know. I have contributed several times to Free Republic, including today, and happy to do it for value received. I read Jim's story and believe every word of it, and everything else that I have seen relative to finances.

Making this short, for Jim's own self interest, he needs some type of independent accounting control. What happens, for example if he breaks a leg and someone else has to take over? Because of what FreeRepublic stands for, I see it continuing to grow. At some point standard business practices need to be in place before control is lost. Jim has said he is not asking for charity, and well said because he provides a valuable service and deserves support, not just to cover expenses of the service provided, but for his personal services as well. And I doubt that most of us using this service are not willing to pay for it. I plan on continued contributions myself,

I don't feel comfortable for Jim when he has to defend his honesty and integrity while being so unselfish in his contributions.

Perhaps I haven't said it well, but it's sincere.
